So, yesterday was a really lame day at work. It was Saturday, the busiest day of the week, so it's all in that context.
The first thing I learn when I get to work is that the safe won't open. The safe with all the fucking money in it! Eventually I find out that it wouldn't open the night before also, so two of the cash drawers weren't able to be put up - they were still in the registers. But I would have to go through a large portion of the day without the ability to put more money in the registers if needed.
Then I find out that Line 1 of our phone system wasn't working. In fact, it was malfunctioning in exactly the worst possible way - when someone called it, it just wouldn't ring on our end. Whoever called it would hear it ringing like we were moron pricks who didn't want to answer the phone. But it wouldn't ring at the store, nor would it roll over to another line. Eventually, I figured out that if I left the line on hold, the phone system would roll the calls to the next line. But still....
By the time I'm done dealing with these things, I realize that the store was a little empty. By which I mean that two employees didn't show up. One was expected, because she had quit earlier in the week (last Monday, I think), but no one had been scheduled to cover her shift for some unknown reason. The other was a semi-dependable employee, but it never is surprising when he doesn't show up. The thing is, he usually calls first with a half-assed excuse, but this was a complete 'no call, no show'.
So, I'm the only one running the store from 730a till 9a, when the newly promoted (and thus highly unlikely to do anything flaky) Cassandra showed up. Well, one of the commercial guys helped out, but that was as much out of desperation as anything.
The rest of the day wasn't really that bad, but that being the morning I had really didn't give me the best mood for the afternoon.
Today was rather uneventful at work. It was almost pleasant.
