Chapter 7 part 1

Home. Love. Belonging These were three words Hyde didn't know the meaning of anymore. The place he so proudly used to call home, the grandiose villa he lived in, had become merely that; a grandiose villa. He almost never spent time in it, either because of work, or simply because he didn't feel like he belonged there anymore. He didn't belong with the person in it, the person he had so often convinced himself to love; Sakura. There was indeed a time where he had loved the drummer more than himself, but things had deteriorate to the point that whether he was misunderstanding the meaning of love itself, or whether love itself wasn't there anymore, he just couldn't tell.

Maybe this was their punishment for having once tried to get to Heaven, through the fake and tainted wings of drugs, or maybe, it was the simple consequence of a series of actions; they had destroyed what they had, and now it was gone. Ever since, Hyde had been lucky enough to find a stronger and purer love, but of course, as humans are opt to, he left it to follow the mirage of a dream that at the time seemed to make sense in the whole picture, as he decided to give another try to him and Sakura. However, he hadn't yet realized that he could only see a tiny part of the picture, for he himself was still in it.

Now that he had found a way to finally step out the frame, he could clearly see that in fact, it was an empty picture, everything was truly all gone; love, home, belonging, and … Ruki. The worst thing about it all was the lack of emotions. The fact that he had no more tears to shed for the drummer, who was now laying next to him on their bed, reading a magazine, intently not acknowledging his presence. Hyde didn't feel that lacerating pain at his usual coldness, or anger at his indifference, even hate, nothing, nothing at all.

-When is the next time your leaving? - suddenly inquired the drummer, maintaining his gaze on his magazine.

-Can't wait to have me out, can you ... - cynically whispered Hyde, staring at the drummer, who kept his gaze away

-Just asking babe ... trying to make conversation here - replied the other as he slowly turned a page

-If that's the case, how about asking something like “Oh, how was London?” or “did you have time to go somewhere?” or-

-I get it, I get it - quickly interrupted the drummer, now locking his stare with the singer's - want to go out somewhere? -

-Now? -

-Yeah … - replied the other matter-of-fact

-Tetsu and the others will soon be here, for dinner, remember? Are you becoming senile now?- added Hyde with a tiny grin

-Could be ne? - said the other, getting of the bed -that might actually be the reason why I didn't even noticed you were gone - he concluded and left the singer alone, once again recognizing, that even such a sentence, just didn't hurt anymore.

Thus, what was the point of it all? What was stopping him from breaking up with the drummer, and finding a way, if possible, to move on again? Pride, maybe. Having to admit that he had been wrong, and that he himself was the cause of his own pain. Maybe, weakness. He had already, once or twice, propose for them to just brake up, but the other, still wouldn't want to let go, and he would always end up convincing him that they needed each other.

The more the singer thought about it, the more pride and weakness seemed like feasible reasons. However, he perfectly knew those were just cover ups for the agonizing real reason; fear. The fear of having to accept that the only person he really loved and belonged with, was the one person that in this precise moment, might have been wishing that he hadn't let him miss that one train on that one faithful day.

-Takari-kun? - asked a gentle voice, as Hyde raised from his laying position to see his housekeeper at the edge of the door

-Yes, Megumi-san - replied the brunette with a relieved smile. He was really grateful to the elderly woman, whom he considered like a second mother. She had been a strong support through all the depressing days, the sleepless nights. Always by his side she was probably the one person that made this huge building still a home.

-Ogawa-san, Kitamura-san, and Awaji-san have arrived, and they are waiting in the dining room, with Yasunori -san - she announced

-Thank you Megumi-san, you can start serving, please tell them I will be right there - he politely requested. Megumi bowed and left the room, as he got up and faced the mirror. Who are you, and what are you doing? He asked himself has he adjusted his collar, and fixed his hair.

He slowly walked out of his bedroom, and directed himself to the dining room downstairs. As he walked, he attentively looked at the expensive paintings on the walls, the luxurious hanging chandeliers, the hand made Persian carpets; he had it all.

Descending the stairs he slowly inhaled and exhaled to recollect himself. He decided that since they were all gathered together to have a nice dinner, he might have as well enjoyed it. He didn't want to make his band mates worry, not now that they were about to start again together. Thus, he took a little detour and went in direction of his tiny cellar, to pick a wine suited for the occasion, and he was about to enter when he saw one of the house attendants in the laundry room, impassively staring at a piece of garment.

Hyde instinctively turned towards her, and as he walked into the room, she quickly hid the garment in another pile of clothes.

-What was that you were just holding? - calmly asked Hyde, looking at the spot were the thing was shoved, the girl just blushed looking downwards and tried to make a reply

-Ano … -

-Please show it to me - kindly requested Hyde, as the girl hesitantly reached here hand to the pile and pulled out a pair of black thongs. He took the item from the attendant, trying to keep his calm as he smirked. He didn't wear thongs, and Sakura didn't either. The singer returned his gaze to the attendant, who was still looking away.

-Is this the first time you find things like this? - he asked with an emotionless tone and the girl just slightly nodded in negation.

Starring at the thongs in his hands, he left the room without saying anything. He made his way out of the laundry room, feeling his blood progressively heating in his entire body, finally, he had reached his limit. Enough, had been already, over enough.

-Takari-san will soon be over - announced Megumi, leaving the room, as the guests simply nodded. Tetsu was glad to days such as this, where he could calmly enjoy a dinner with those four men he considered his family, and he had always worked so hard to keep peace and stability in their relationships. For example, he had been able to make Yukihiro and Sakura not feel uncomfortable in each others presence, he had helped the latter to get back in track when he left prison, and most importantly he had been able to keep his feelings for Hyde well hidden and in place.

Yet, he knew that things between the ex-drummer and their singer weren't as bright, but for the sake of Hyde, who kept insisting that everything was going to be alright, he always just ignored the matter, and was determined to keep doing so. Thus, he couldn't have predict what he was soon going to witness.

A house attendant came in with a kart, and placed a bowl of miso soup in front of each guest, politely nodding. They all began to converse about everything and nothing, lighting up the mood of the yet too big dining room with the echo of jubilant laughter.

-So were you able to get that contract you were talking about? -Asked Yukihiro turning to the other drummer

-Aaaah … not really, this PSC shit is fucking everywhere, it looks like I might have to sign with them, but I don't like their rules and shit … so I don't know - replied Sakura

-Yeah I know - grumbled Ken and quickly resumed talking - We went to Sendai to finalize some details for the group, and if L'arc en ciel's name wasn't as popular, we would have had a hard time just finding a place to have our first concert! Ne? - he complained looking at Yukihiro, who replied with a supportive nod

-Well then, we can just feel lucky and be grateful for what we have, right? - added Tetsu with a bright smile, bring up his glass of water, soon followed by all the others in a collective toast.

-Well said Tecchan, well said - replied the ex-drummer

-And what is it exactly that we have here? - shouted a cheerful voice coming from outside the dining room

-There he is! Where have you been? - Exclaimed Tetsu, as Hyde slowly walked into the dining room with both his hands behind his back

-Oh! You have presents from England for us, don't you? - excitedly asked Yukihiro pointing at Hyde's hidden arms

-No … something better … - continued the singer as he got closer to the table.

He brought out his right hand and placed a bottle of expensive looking wine on the table. The guests suddenly livened the atmosphere with whistles, and table banging, in anticipation, as Tetsu took the bottle and observed it, ready to pop it open.

-It's dated 2000. You have older wines than this now, you cheapskate! - he joked, as the others laughed

-Oh but, 2000 is an important year, that deserves to be celebrated again, don't you think? - rhetorically asked Hyde looking at the bassist with an awaiting expression

-Hmph, I don't know, I guess. The new millenium … - he drily trailed

-Red sox won the world series … - happily added Yukihiro, receiving a general agreeing grumble

-the ILOVEYOU! computer virus, that shit got me too …. - complained Ken making the rest of the guest laugh. Then all eyes turned towards Hyde, how still kept one arm behind his back and walked towards the place were Sakura was sitting

-You have nothing to say … honey?- asked Hyde curiously looking at the drummer

-I can't think of any good thing at the moment, babe … - he smirked as he took another sip from his glass of water

-That is true … - continued Hyde - because you got arrested in 2000, didn't you? … - he concluded staring at the drummer with a pronounced cynical grin.

The room soon became quite, and any trace of smiles left the faces of all guest, and the one of the ex-drummer's included, who was now looking up at singer. Something was about to go totally wrong, it didn't take a genius to understand, and Testu began quickly thinking about a way, to prevent what yet hadn't happen.

-Oi Hyde ... this- tried to interject Tetsu, but he was shut up by Hyde's tiny index finger, which promptly raised up, requesting him to say no more.

-And if I remember correctly, you almost got me killed … - continued the singer, firmly maintain his gaze on the drummer.

-I wasn't myself at the time, and you know that … - drily stated Sakura, who turned to look at his friends in search of support, but all the other were capable of, were mere confused expressions.

-Maybe. but I just realized that, if something hadn't happened that night, I would have actually be dead. Thus, I was already dead to you - continued the singer, at which the drummer just quickly got up, and placed himself right in front of the singer, looking down at him. Tetsu and Yukihiro instinctively stood up feeling the tension quickly escalating.

-Hey you two, cool down … - tried to say Tetsu

-Oh, but I am totally calm - smiled Hyde, looking at Tetsu, and then returning his gaze up to the drummer, who was now glaring at him.

-What are you doing Hyde? What are trying to prove? - angrily hissed Sakura

-All I am saying, is that you can't bring back the dead, and in the same way … lies can't stay hidden forever - he concluded bringing out his left arm, and throwing the black thongs inside, the drummer's miso soup bowl.

-What's … going on? … - attempted to ask Yukihiro

-Sakura here, has been cheating on me. For quite sometime too, haven't you? - asked Hyde, who Tetsu noticed, had long lost his smile. The bassist could discern a tiny raging flame in the eyes of the singer, and he had never remembered the shorter man ever acting so aggressively. He almost looked like a different person. The drummer didn't reply, he merely passed a hand trough his long brown hair, and looked away with a smirk. He then assumed a challenging expression, and looked down at the shorter brunette.

-And you just noticed? What did you expe- the taller tried to reply, but the next thing that came out of his mouth were distressed grumbles, followed by tears, as he looked up at the singer, who had just used his knee to hit him in the crotch.

Yukihiro was firmly holding Hyde by both arms, as Tetsu went over, the suffering figure, who was frantically contorting on the floor, as Ken helplessly observed the entire scene. Tetsu tried to get the ex-drummer at least seated, on the ground, while Hyde forcefully freed himself from Yukihiro, raising both his arms, assuring the other that he wouldn't take anymore actions.

-Oh don't worry about him, he'll be fine - dryly state Hyde, getting closer to the two men on the floor

-Because you see, only men have those - he continued vaguely pointing at Sakura's crotch - thus, he just can't be hurting - he concluded with a quick grin, as Sakura kept glaring at him, still in visible pain. The singer then calmly went to seat at the now guest-less table, given that Ken had felt the impulse to get up, when Hyde had freed himself from Yukihiro.

-And by the way, I don't date women, so I'd like you and your belongings, if you have any at all, to get the fuck out of my fucking house - he added and began sipping his miso soup.

Tetsu was looking at his other two band mates, who looked completely flabbergasted, and he hd absolutely no clue about what exactly would have been the right thing to do. Sure, Sakura was in the wrong, and given the feeling he himself bore for the singer, he had absolutely no comforting words for their ex-drummer. However, Sakura was still aching in his arms, as he attempted to get him up, and the only thing he found it proper to do, was to help the other stand, and maybe get him out of the dining room.

He turned both of them to face the room's entrance, where a couple of attendants, and a bodyguard were observing the scene. He walked them over to the entrance, and stopped in front of the bodyguard.

-Could you please, ask the driver to take him home? - he politely asked to which he replied a nod, as he now held the drummer

-Tetsuya- tried to say Sakura

-We'll talk later … just go to your apartment for tonight - calmly replied Tetsu, as he turned back to the dinner table, Hyde still working on his soup, the other two still standing.

-Would you please sit down - strongly requested the singer, and the others just complied without hesitation.

Nobody said nothing, as the first dish was being served. Tetsu observed Yukihiro and Ken continuously interchanging wondering expression as they quickly shrugged their shoulders, while Hyde still acted untouched, like he hadn't just hit somebody, some second ago. The whole situation was obviously unsettling, but what surprised the bassist the most, was the fact that their singer hadn't yet broke down in tears, in fact the thought act, didn't seem like an act at all.

-What's with the silence? - suddenly asked Hyde looking at his band mates

-Well … - attempted to say Ken, and silence came visit again

-So? - pushed the singer

-Just ...that didn't seem like something you would do, looking all … - tried Yukihiro

-Aggressive?- quickly replied Hyde, as the others all nodded. Hyde smiled, and took the bottle of wine he had brought in an attempt to open it

-Well you see, in 2000 a good thing happened to. That year, a certain somebody, gave me the gift of being here, speaking with you guys, right now - spoke the tiny brunette -and it was thinking about how this certain person would have reacted, that I did what I just did - he then concluded pouring the wine into Tetsu's cup.

-So we have a certain somebody to thank, for bringing out Rocky-hime! - attempted to joke Yukihiro, at which Ken and Hyde laughed

-It's not funny … - replied Tetsu

-Oh common! He'll live- dryly replied Hyde

-So you are just over. Done. Just like that - asked the bassist looking perplexed at their singer

-Yes, I am, and you know that better than I do. You perfectly know that there hadn't been anything to even end. And I am okay, I am not suffering, I am not regretting … I just feel a little empty.

-Would you care to elaborate? - asked Tetsu, who was still having a hard time accepting Jekyll.

-I just realized how I wasted two years, and now I have a whole lot of catching up to do, and I am glad I can do it by the four us getting back together... I missed you guys - replied the cheerful singer, as he incited the others to bring up their filled wine glasses, and made a toast

-To our success … and my old found self! - and they all clinged their glasses together, as they exchanged agreeing nods.

-What Sakura did, was wrong, no doubt about it ... but ... he is still … how should I say this … I know it might sound unfair now, but he is still- tried to say Ken, avoiding Hyde's gaze

-It's alright. You don't have to cut bridges or anything. What he does, with who he talks and anything else pertaining him, is not going to be any of my business anymore, that's all. - calmly replied Hyde

That being said they silently continued their dinner, as their second dish arrived. Everyone seemed to have at least relaxed a little bit, all but the bassist, who had realized something, which was beginning to bother him. If the whole story of the “old” new found Hyde, was actually true, then the singer wouldn't have come crying to him anymore, and the bassist wouldn't have been to any use to him anymore, not special … anymore.

And now that the singer was single again, how was he going to act? His mind told him that he had to keep his feeling at bay, they were about to start everything, all over again, and it was unnecessary to add any new possible drama. However, wasn't it his constant waiting for the right time, that had always allowed his precious Hyde, to be taken from him every time he had a chance?

-So how about we do something tomorrow. Today turned out to be this way, so I think we should go out, the four of us. - he proposed.

-That sounds like a good idea to me!- replied Yukihiro, at which Ken nodded in agreement

-How about we go clubbing? - proposed Hyde - Haven't done that in a while, and it always was fun with the for us getting really hammered!- concluded Hyde as they all laughed

-I think that's a perfect idea! - replied Tetsu, when the laughter had died. He began to convince himself that maybe, it hadn't been to bad he had patiently waited for all this time. Clubbing wasn't exactly what the bassist had in mind, but it was a start, and he decided, that this time he wasgoing to go all out, with no hesitations. This time, he was going to be the one to add a picture in that lonely empty frame.

Chapter 8 part 1

A/N: Yes finally! I couldn't stand the presence of Sakura anymore (LOL! I am mean!) but Tetsu is finally on the move ... how is that going to go? ... and some other group is "supposedly" going clubbing to ... there are many clubs in Tokyo, true, but life is just that funny... or not?
