Finally, an episode of DW I truly enjoyed. *happy sigh* Cheers for Toby Whithouse - I liked School Reunion and he didn't disappoint this time. Also, I generally enjoyed Being Human even if the second season's finale was more a frakup than BSG's ending.
I mean, the episode wasn't perfect, the alien plan was silly (why destroy a human city via earthquake or whatever, instead of just splashing into the water and head to a nice tropical lagoon?) and the resolution even sillier. But then, DW has a long tradition of silliness and I never really cared, as long as it had enough other things to enjoy.
Also, the reminders of the series arc seem kinda forced by now - yes we are aware of it, can we just forget it until it's time to act on it? Still, that one might pay out in the end, so I'll put up with it, as long as it doesn't make the entire episode look like it's just to set up the finale's conflict. *glares at Victory of the Daleks*
But other than that, I liked it. Finally we got proper character stuff, not just plot-plot-plot-joke-plot. Rory is lovely, and with him around I felt like Amy is becoming a real person, not just a pretty cipher. Also liked the queen of the damned whatever her name was, her faceoffs with the Doctor were great both times. Even if she had to churn out lots of season-arc stuff, she did it with style. Or is it just my love for middle-aged actresses again? *gg*
Also really fun: taking the piss at the current vampire craze (especially from a writer who is the creator of one of those shows). Vampires are actually space fish? LOL! Thankfully they are not sparking but exploding on sunlight. Girl named Isabella, asking to be one of them? Sounds familiar! Isabella being eaten up by "10000 fiances"? Hell yes! *gg*
