Why I Have Lost Faith In Our Country (Outside of Bush Winning)

Nov 03, 2004 08:54

1) Tom Coburn won a Senate seat in Oaklahoma. He has said he is going to bring his faith to Washington D.C. He has made such statements as, not only should be abortions be illegal, but all all docotrs who perform them should be executed. Also, he said that lesbians are destroying our high schools and girls should not be allowed to go to the bathroom in groups because it only encourages such activity.

2) Jim Bunning was re-elected in Kentucky to his seat in the Senate. There has been much despute as to whether or not Bunning is legally insane. He insisted his Democratic challenger Daniel Mongiardo, looked exactly like one of Saddam Hussien's sons and was terrified/angered by him. For these reasons he refused to be in the same room as Mongiardo and had a debate via satallite. Durring this debate he read his opening and closing statements from a teleprompter (increadibly bad form). Bunning also called his oppenent "limp wristed" repeatedly.

3) Our Supreme Court is going to go to shit. You can forget about a woman's right to chose.

These two men are in the Senate. They are making and passing bills and laws that effect our society. Do you feel that these men represent you AT ALL? These men came from the Middle Ages. I shudder to think what the future holds in-store for us. I hate when people say, the President doesn't effect us. Would we be in a war, with a Patriot Act, with a woman's right to choose in greater than danger than before, with no regard for the the environment, with and a tax cut to the top 1%, if Bush was not in office? The answer is most assuredly a no. You can pretend that this stuff does not effect you but, it certainly does.
