That's my LogoDesign project I did for Design-I. We were supposed to use our knowledge of color to create an appropriate logo for an imaginary company. Very few people in my class really understood how to approach the project, but there were a few decent logos.
I had fun with this project. I worked extra hard to make sure I kept the board clean since I had some problems with that this year. I even made sure I finished it the day before it was due, so I could bring it to class and get a pre-review and fix it up to make sure it's better. So much better than trying to rush it for the actual day it's due.
The Companies, starting at the time:
Shin'r. A fight clothing company. This was my professor's favorite logo, since it was very EXTREME-ish. And he liked the joke in it, with the I of the company's name being blacked out. I added the white thumbnail to see how it looks but I think I'll paint over that at some point since the professor and I both agreed that it was better without.
Louisiana Electric. The state of Louisiana with an electrical chord wrapped around it. Another one my professor really liked. The class suggested that if I redid it, to make the chord form more of an "e" shape, since it nearly does already. Originally I had the plug end more complicated, but after getting frustrated enough, I just made it solid white. I like it better that way. I used a Louisiana Magnet I got last year for my outline, and let someone else in my class use it. She got complimented on her well done Louisiana. It amused us.
Speed'n Feed'n. It's a meals on wheels program. I used McDonald's colors to focus on the whole color-scheme part of the project. Encourage hunger and what not. I wanted to add the name of the company under the car symbol, but I wasn't sure how to spell it exactly. Speedy Feedy, Speed'n Feed'n, etc. And what kind of font to use. So I just opted out of it. Plus the top and bottom logo had words already, so I didn't want to just leave LE as the only one without words.
Baby Wear. That one my professor liked the least, but was most liked by my class. When we got to it, like the whole female population in the class went 'AWW'. So when the professor was like 'eh I don't like it much' I was all 'PSHAW! You're not the target audience for that logo, so your opinion doesn't matter much :P!!'. And since the whole class seemed to like it so much, he accepted that his personal taste doesn't really apply. (He didn't like it since he couldn't tell what the baby in the sling was, and thought it looked like boobs.)
Normally we do the posterboards as a square, but since I had recently bought a huge sized one to cut up, I felt like trying it all long ways. I was worried the professor might ask about it but he didn't say anything. Of course, I learned my lesson that it wasn't that good of an idea, just from trying to bring it back and forth to class.
I've also managed to accept the fact that tape+paint just doesn't work for me. I need to use finetipped brushes to get sharp edges. Oh well. (Broad edges, that I just need to keep clean, are fine for the most part, though. So that's good.)
If anyone cares to see upclose shots of any of the logos, let me know. I haven't bothered to do that yet. But I might add an Art section to my Weasel site, and post them there, along with other pictures of my design projects.
