Scariest day ever

Yesterday was one of the scariest day in my life. I had to kill (together with CS) 10 over cockroaches within an hour. For people who don't know how scared I am afraid of cockroaches, once (this is way back in secondary school) a cockroach flew into the classroom while I was talking to a friend, I ran straight out and refused to step back in until the guys assured me they killed the cockroach. Luckily this happened in the morning and there were no classes. Another time, I was at a school camp and part of the camp involved us walking all over Singapore, I was dead tired and could't move until a friend said 'cockroach!', that got me moving really fast.

So anyway the whole thing started when I saw a group of ants moving house, and crawling across my wall. We traced them to the gully in the kitchen and CS threw in some ant insecticide, and then he made the biggest mistake of all, spraying Baygon into the gully. At first, nothing happened and as we were preparing to leave the house to do some volunteer stuff, one cockroach appeared, followed by another one and soon, CS and me were staked out at opposite sides of the kitchen killing cockroaches as they appeared. I was screaming my head off but I made sure I killed every single one of them. We also had to make sure Kit Cat was locked up in a room as we didn't want him to be near the insecticide. We were convinced that there was a nest somewhere and we called in pest control, unfortunately they could come in at 7pm. Goodness, that was the longest wait in my life ever. CS started moving stuff out of the kitchen and I continued staking out the kitchen to make sure no more cockroaches appeared.

When the pest control guy turned up, I was so relieved, I could have kissed him, but of course I didn't. He explained that no matter what, cockroaches will live in the gully and he mentioned that because we sprayed Baygon into it, they started running out as it is too toxic for them. He also mentioned that Baygon was the best in the market for home use and we should use it instead of Shieldtox. He was a really nice guy and he helped us put some insecticide in the areas most likely to have cockroaches. The type he uses will not result in them running out but they may come out to die and they will also bring it back to their nest. Goodness, I was so freaked out last night I couldn't sleep properly and I had an interview today!! And obviously while I spent the morning preparing for the interview, I didn't do any of that after 4pm as we were so busy with the cockroaches.

So on to my interview, I think it went pretty well all things considering. Spoke to the headhunter after that and he mentioned that they are interviewing another candidate on Monday so let's see how it goes. The role is what I'm looking for though the company is not one I would normally think of joining. Let's see how.

So far, no dead cockroaches. Waiting for CS to be back.
