some thoughts about marriage

Just some thoughts that sprang into mind after reading Blinkymummy. She was going on about meaningless weddings and I think it sprang from the fact that people were borrowing money to have the wedding of a lifetime.

I know a lot of people my generation aren't that keen on the whole wedding dinner thing at hotel, however a lot of us still do it. Myself? Yeah I'm doing it too and yes its purely because I know my parents want it and for them it's a big deal that I'm getting married. I have some family history (which I really rather not say) but this is like the biggest thing for them and because of that I'm just going to get it over and done with. But even then, me and SO are going to do it our way. We are not having a march-in, no yam seng and no speech. We'll probably just have the cake-cutting and the obligatory photo-taking but that's it. As for photography, no albums for us too, just the actual day. So actually what I'm trying to say is that even if you do the same stuff like everyone else (wedding dinner, etc etc) there are still ways to make it your own. Not every bride have to turn into a bridezilla. I mean, I'm not even dieting for my wedding, I'll just probably swim less nearer the wedding in case I'm too dark and have tan lines which will show up (my gown is just a simple tube dress). I mean, we aren't even spending that much time on the dinner, all our energies are on furnishing the house :)

So yeah, just my 2 cents worth. Yes, preparing for a wedding can be tough and stressful (even when it's as simple as mine) but the point is you don't have to make it so :)

thoughts, wedding
