Well here it goes....

LUMOS SORTING APPLICATION

Name: Jennifer Noble

Age (13 or up; we stick to LJ rules): 22

Location: Syracuse, NY or Snow City, USA. Though, right now it’s hot enough to fry a hot dog on the sidewalk. Go figure

Where did you hear about this community? glitterintears said I must join and she wouldn’t take no for answer. Since I always do what others tell me, for the most part, I decided to join. I wonder if that part of my personality will factor into my sorting.

How much time are you willing to invest in this community? I want to invest all I can, but it’s limited between work, enjoying my summer, and another community. Hopefully I’ll be able to invest at least an hour or two a day. It could be more depending on how much I get into it.

PART 1 - Canon

1. Have you read all the books? Yes, multiple times. I’m currently re-reading them again so I’m ‘ready’ for the new one. In all honesty, though, I’m starting with POA book. I’ve read Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber so many times, it’s hard to get into them as much as I used to. I t pains me to say that. Is it possible to read a book too much? I’ll probably end up forcing myself to read all of them anyways.

2. Give us your personal interpretation of each Hogwarts house (in
terms of atmosphere, mentality, intra-house relationships et cetera -
these are just a few examples). This is going to be hard and I honestly don’t know what to say. To be honest, I’ve never given this much thought but I’ll try.

Gryffindors seems to have a very support filled atmosphere. They always seem to be there for each other and willing to help out whenever needed. They also don’t appear to like when things are said negatively about fellow members of their house. In the books, at times, they seem, well, arrogant on occasion but over all good hearted people who want to help out any one in trouble.

Hufflepuffs seem like very open and people who make friends easily or maybe just people who like being around other people. It seems like this would be a very relaxed house to be in, full of fun, life, and energy. They also seem very loyal. I would imagine they want to be friends with almost anyone from any house until they heard someone was being mean/rude/hurting a member of their house.

I don’t know much Ravenclaws. They are a house of mystery it seems since they really aren’t focused on in the books too much, but they seem like smart people, at least according to the sorting hat. They’d probably be willing to offer help and encouragement to those in need of it especially if you’re in their house

Slytherins are probably the easiest for me to categorize. While, yes, for the most part they are ‘evil’ I don’t see it as pure evil. They’re more like the troublemaker type of evil. They always want to cause trouble and let other take the blame. Like all the other houses, they are loyal to their kind. Heaven help you if you hurt a Slytherin.

3. What would be your favourite flavour of Bertie Bott’s Every
Flavour Beans and why (note: as the name implies, all possible flavours
exist)? Hm, this is a hard one. I’d have to say chocolate. I’m a simple (and picky) person so I go for the basics. I just adore chocolate and always pick it over anything else. I could live off of chocolate if given half a chance.

4. If you were on your House’s Quidditch Team, which position would
you preferably play and why? Personally, I wouldn’t want to play. But, to answer the question, I’d have to say Keeper. I played soccer (football) and was goalie. I wasn’t the best, I wasn’t the greatest, but I tried hard. When everyone else on my team was for scoring the goals, I preferred to make sure the other team didn’t. No one else wanted to try. You could say I was stuck with it, but I rather enjoyed it. Just hope I could handle three ‘goals.’

5. (Optional) What HP conspiracy theory do you hold true unless it
is textually proven otherwise? (i.e. Snape is a vampire, Ron is
Dumbledore, etc. -there are loads of these theories. Feel free to contribute
your own)? I stopped holding to conspiracies years ago when an 11 year old argued with me that a typo was a clue to some great conspiracy that James and Lily were still alive. After that, I stopped reading or even listening to theories. People are welcome to have them, but I’m willing to wait for the sixth and seventh books.

6. (Optional. If you can't answer #5, make sure you answer this
one.) What is your favorite book aside from HP and why? This question was asked to a person who has a library sized collection of books. This is impossibly hard for me to answer. So, while this may not answer the question, I’ll talk about the favorite book of the ones I’m reading now. Of the three books I’m currently in the middle of, I’d have to say Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It’s so hilarious to see how he turns things from the Wizard of Oz around and backwards and upside down so you see the ‘other’ side of things, like, for instance, the real agenda of the Wizard and the question of ‘Was the Wicked Witch really wicked?’ I love books that make me think as well as entertain me.

7. What would your Room of Requirement look like? Apart from it looking exactly like Hagrid's Hut...which it probably would because I am a messy person, it would be painted in bright colors like green, blue, and purple. I’d have a soft bed I could fall into at night, allowing me to fall into a quick sleep. I’d have soft, big, plush chairs or couches to sink into so I could enjoy reading my many books. There’d be a soft bed beside mine for my cat. I must have a cat. If I can’t have a cat, I might cry.

8. Describe your wand and tell us why you picked that design. It would probably be...10 inches. That seems standard. It would be made of pine wood and probably have a unicorn hair. Why? Well to be honest, I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about it but if I must give an answer, I suppose I shall. I like the smell of pine and I’m rather fascinated with the mythology behind unicorns.

What's Your Personality Type?

10. Who is your role model and why? I always hate being asked this question. I have a hard time picking one person out of the number of people in my life from my mom to all my teachers who have had an influence on my life. If I have to pick, I’d say my junior english teacher. She randomly did something halfway through my junior year that impacted my last year and a half of high school. She never knew she did it and was shocked to learn of the impact. This makes her my role model in that I’d like to make an impact on someone and not even know at that point in time. Just knowing something I saw as simple impacted someone, I don’t know, just the thought makes me smile.

11. What would you like to have accomplished at the end of your
life? I’d like to have, like I said above, made an impact on someone or several someones lifes. I also would’ve liked to have had several children and raised them so they were wonderful, productive members of society. As far as career, I honestly have no idea what I’d like to do but I would love to have made an impact on society as a whole.

12. Would you sooner commit a crime against your kin or your
countrymen? Wow, this question is very complicated. For a lot of people their countrymen are their kin. To be honest, I’d have to say...lord, I don’t know. My kin is my kin and I’d hate to hurt them but anything done against my countrymen effects the whole country. I honestly don’t think I could pick between the two. I would sooner hide then commit a crime against anyone.

13. What would your animagus be and why? Cat, hands down. I love cats. There’s a kind of mysterious quality about them. I see it in my four cats. They all have such distinct personalities but they seem to have this hidden way about them that only the others can make sense of. I would like to be a mystery to people around me.

14. What would your patronus be and why? And another hard one. Probably a terminator type protector. Someone or something who couldn’t be hurt no matter what was thrown at them. I could find strength and peace from having someone who couldn’t be stopped protecting me from whatever evil was attacking me.

15. What career would you consider if you were indeed part of the
wizarding world and why? Probably a teacher at any of the schools. I would love to mold the young witches and wizards and help shape them into becoming important members of the wizarding world, hoping that what I taught them would make a last impression on them as they decided what they wanted to do with their life
