I had one minor issue. I walked in to the building a block away, went straight to the table (no wait), and they couldn't find my name. Panic almost set in, then it was realized that I was at the wrong table; there are two precincts that vote in the same place. This table was for DORR 12; my precinct table for DORR 13 was on the other side of the room, NOT just inside the door. The rest was easy-peasy.
Actually the hardest part was realizing I didn't have to slide the ballot into anything special at the voting booth. I spent a good 5 minutes looking at directions and feeling like an idiot before I realized it wasn't necessary.
My experience was a living hell as well. First, I had to move to the farthest end of my condo, don shoes, and make my way through the door and down 20 feet of unforgiving hallway to the elevator. There, I had to push not one but TWO buttons ([down] and then [5]), travel in relative comfort, exit, and walk another 40 feet to the polling place. Not only did I not have the comfort and camraderie of standing in line with fellow voters, but I was greeted by 4 separate polling place workers, obviously a conspiracy. I spent a grueling 60 seconds checking boxes on a computer screen and twice verifying my selections. I thought the horror would never end.
Actually, the worst part was realizing who my voting options were. I voted in the primary, but that didn't help that much, except to kick Stroeger out on his ass.
