Lost Fan Mix: Darkness/Light
My first ever fan mix, and why of course it's for LOST! Lots of spoilers for season six episodes.
Darkness/Light: A LOST fan mix inspired by Jacob/the Man in Black
Both of these characters are are so mysterious that the upcoming final episodes of LOST may make this whole mix nonsense or true in LOST opposite world, but for now it's only partly nonsense.
Along with the track list, I included a few LOST quotes (thanks to Lostpedia) and brief notes to explain why I picked some of the tracks.
One side is Dark the other Light!
Side One - Darkness
1. "Meet Ze Monsta" - PJ Harvey
Obviously for this lyric:
Big black monsoon/Take me with you
Man in Black as Locke: I'm sorry you had to see me like that.
2. "Demolition Man"- The Police
3. "Evil Urges" - My Morning Jacket
Evil urges baby - it's part of the human way.
4. "Red Right Hand" - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
He'll appear out of nowhere/But he ain't what he seems.
And this quote, Claire (of the Man in Black): That's not John! This is my friend.
5. "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" - Blue Öyster Cult
For the man in black's mysterious power to create duplicates of the departed and/or to make people see visions of the dead.

"As the End Draws Near [Extended Remix] " - Manufacture feat. Sarah McLachlan
Man in Black (to Jacob): They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same.
Side Two - Light

"The Zero Light" - Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears
This is just a fun song about a cult leader who believes in the "light."

"Sun King" - The Beatles
9. "Ra Is a Busy God" - Happy Rhodes
For the strange ancient Egyptian stuff surrounding the character.
10. "Sail Across the Water" - Jane Siberry
Love is kneeling, above the broken body the ever up-turned face.
11. "Power of One" - Merril Bainbridge
Locke (Man in Black) of Jacob: At some point in your life, James, probably when you were young and miserable and vulnerable. He came to you, he manipulated you, pulled your strings like you were a puppet. And as a result, choices you thought were made, were never really choices at all.
And for the general magical feeling of the song and of course, the references to the power of one person's touch. A bit tongue in cheek (?) but if you want to, you can think of it as a love song/hymn to Jacob. ;)
12. "The Miracle of Love" - Eurythmics
For the theme of rebirth and this quote about the people who are drawn to the Island from episode 06x09:
Jacob (to Richard): And when they get here, their past doesn't matter.
