Neville had never successfully cast a stunning charm before today.
But when he meets Luna Lovegood on the second floor corridor, with a group of Slytherin students surrounding her, their wands all out and their faces looking mean and downright menacing, he can't help himself.
(That Gryffindor bravery seemingly bursts forth from no where at all.)
He finds himself shouting, "Stupefy!" as loud as he can.
'With feeling,' Harry had instructed. He found that it did, indeed, work.
"Thank you," Luna responds in her usual breathy voice, when it's all over. "That was very kind of you."
"It was no problem," Neville says. "I couldn't just let those gits pick on another DA member, could I?"
Luna smiles. "No," she says. "We look after each other. All for one and one for all."
"That's right," Neville agrees. "Where's that from?"
"I don't know," says Luna. "I think I heard a pair of Gipular Snoutercaps say that once. It sounded nice."

The first time Luna casts a disarming spell outside of their DA meetings is when she comes across Neville Longbottom in the Transfiguration courtyard, up against Draco Malfoy and a couple of his rather silly looking friends.
"We'll get you for that, Longbottom," says Malfoy. "And so will She."
"Yes," Neville says, "why don't you go crying off to Umbridge, then? You do for just about everything else."
Malfoy narrows his eyes and raises his wand, but before he can cast whatever spell he means to, Luna's wand is up and she's shouting, "Expelliarmus!" with the sort of strength she never knew she was capable of.
Malfoy's wand slips out of his hand like it's made of soap, landing neatly in Luna's grip.
"Oh," she says, delightedly, "it worked."
Another round of hexes and charms, and the Slytherins look frazzled and a little scared.
"Now leave us alone, if you don't want anymore trouble," Neville says fiercely.
Malfoy snatches his wand back and glaring over his shoulder, heads off with his friends. "You'll be sorry for that. You both will."
"Thanks, Luna," says Neville.
"You're welcome," she says. Then she smiles. "I couldn't let them bother another DA member, could I?"
Neville grins. "'All for one and one for all'?"
"Yes. It still sounds nice, doesn't it?"
"Yeah. It does."
