19 Knitting Days Left

Sure doesn't seem like enough knitting days left to get this sweater done. But, ya know, I'm one of those people who can accomplish just about anything if I'm challenged. You know the kind of people I mean. Those annoying people who do exactly what you say they can't? Well, that's me. Several customers in KM commented that there was no way Trondheim could be done for Xmas. I am out to prove them wrong. I'm determined. I am Knitter hear my needles click.

After the first 2 days of knitting I hit a bit of a snag. For some reason, I couldn't get the first round of the solid black textured section knit correctly. I must have frogged that dang round 4 times. And when you are averaging 15-20 rounds per evening, that's quite a bit of knitting time down the drain. See? Not much progress Friday night.

Of course, as is with all snags, once I got past it, the knitting went quicker. I estimated 3 days to get through the textured bit, and with Saturday's progress, I was on schedule.

Sunday's knitting went well too. And, as I was knitting on that textured bit, and admiring my progress, the symbolism of what I was knitting hit me. That textured bit? Well it's not just a pretty texture. It's a ski course! You can sort of see it in this photo. It's hard to make out, but if you look closely, you can see the little purl "gates" just inside each curve. Discovering this little marvel made the knitting that much more pleasant.

Woohoo! Right on schedule, I finished the ski course pattern Monday night. Now that I'm back to the colorwork, the knitting will go much faster. For some reason, I seem to knit fair isle much faster than solid colorwork. Maybe it's the fun of seeing the pattern emerge that makes my needles fly.
