Lunacy

It's official. I am a stark raving lunatic! That 12 step program I spoke about? Well, it was working fine for about 3 weeks. I didn't work on anything except Tilia until she was finished (will post a photo later). I love the sweater, and was feeling pretty good about myself on the knitting FO front. Surely I would get a handle on all those ( Read more... )

Thanks! I think the socks turned out well too :o) The ones I did for Kris are in the same colorway as the Haiku I have. Paul liked the way the colors went together and now is looking forward to those socks.

Yep. That gorgeous sweater that has been hanging on the wall of KM by the register is what I'm making. Same colors and everything. Part of me knows I am setting myself up for failure thinking I can finish this by Xmas, but the stubborn part of me insists I can do it lol.

Yardage for Paul's socks? Well, I got a pair for him out of 1 skein of the Cider Moon sport weight .... which I think is 250 yds approximately. It was really close though. In a sock weight or fingering weight I use about 350-400 depending on the pattern. The time I ran out was with the Trekking XXL, but that was because I had a gazillion cables running down the leg and top of the foot. I wasn't too short that time, but couldn't find any more of that colorway. I wound up having to pick out both toes (I had done toe up), redoing them in solid black, and using the undone toe yarn along with black to make striped cuffs. The socks were a bit on the short side for Paul, but he liked them nonetheless. I learned my lesson with those socks. I always buy as close to 400 yds as I can for his socks, and if there is any texture in the pattern I double that. Much rather have leftovers than try to dig for another ball in the same color and dyelot lol.

You should design a tea cozy pattern, make some up, and sell them in your Etsy store. Or make a deal with the folks at Zen Cha to sell them there. The ones I made were quick and easy and could really be a stash buster because the don't use a lot of yarn. If people are asking about them, then there's some kind of demand. May as well take advantage of it :o)
