after an unexpected 2 night stay in the hospital.
Instead of dinner with friends, I spent my birthday hurling up water (first time in over a month and a half of chemo that I get nausea!) So we made the trip to the Emergency Department, and after some intravenous antinausea drugs, they found my hemoglobin counts were really low and so I spent my bday night in the "Short Stay Ward" getting blood transfusions.
Thursday morning I got wheeled down to the Day Ward where I had my normal chemo and then proceeded to wait till 7:30pm to get a blood patch in Theatre. The blood patch was to alleviate the headache I had since my lumbar puncture on Monday. The headache was so bad that I couldn't walk, stand up or even sit up. I had to lay flat 24/7. (For the blood patch, they take a syringe of blood from your arm and inject it into the sight where the lumbar puncture was done in order to seal up your leaking spinal fluid.) Luckily for me it worked, and now I have my life back!
But only after spending last night in the hospital, again.
But now I am home, happy and free of (most major) headaches!
