Things that would be nice
I think I may have mentioned before that I am trying to go plastic free. I've been doing this by not buying plastic packaged food (also has the positive side effect of not eating food w preservatives) not using plastic bags, bringing my own takeaway containers places etc. Although I am also trying not to buy new things, if these new things will last much longer, be healthier and more environmentally friendly than using used or plastic things, then I say it's ok. Here's a few things that would be nice to have (if anyone was thinking about the approaching holiday ;)
Stainless steel takeaway containers & bamboo utensils
Or other bamboo cooking utensils or stainless steel food storage containers
Glass drinking straws
New Zealand is great for getting used items to a degree, but there are a lot of products that I can't find, or just don't know where to look. Like bamboo utensils- can't find them anywhere. People look at me like I'm crazy if I ask for them. Just like the guy at Starbucks thinks I'm crazy for getting my cold frappachino in a mug to save a plastic cup!
