Millennium Park
I need some help. These are film and I'm glad that the overall quality of my film work is improving - the tonal range is better, the images sharper, etc. It might be because I scanned the negatives, I don't know. Anyway, I want some feedback on the top two. I don't know which I like better - the close cropped one, or the far-away centered one. If anyone has a definite opinion towards one or the other, that'd be appreciated. Also, I'd like to know if either of the images were at all emotionally impactful. The biggest thing I'm struggling with right now is connecting with the strangers I take pictures of, or at least capturing some sense of the moment.
You give me someone I know and am comfortable with, I can take their picture easily - and maybe come away with some sense of who they are. But strangers I encounter - particularly 'interesting' characters on the street, like this one - are harder to capture. At least for the present moment.
I'm not going to have a photo class next semester, but I'm going to try very hard to get out a day each week and walk around Boston to start taking more street photography like this - my own continuous photojournalism exercise. Hopefully it will get better with time.
