currently i sit infront of the community computer at the hotel in colorado springs typeing this. apart from the extreme amount of space between points of interest, this is by far the most beautiful american city i have been to.
i have been here since sunday night trying to take everything in, mainly the amazing landscape. basically i look out my hotel window and see the mountians. i walk out of the hotel and see mountains. at SRAM i look out the windows and see, you guest it, mountians.
im out in colorado springs for the SRAM Technical University, basically learning every little thing about every SRAM Truvative Avid Rockshocks componants. first days was drive trains. from shift levers to derailers to chains. i know the who what why and when of all of it. mountain and road with everything in between. i finally got the trick to bleeding the hydraulic brakes that avid makes. alot more simple than i have previously experienced.
today i worked on suspension fork technology. sorting out coil, air and oil and the theory of how and why it works the way it works. still not 100% with the termanology and what product has what, but that what tech manuals are for. fork overhauls have always been something i fear. since i dont know the theory and terms behind all of it it leadsme to not want to tackle the task of overhauling it. between the pike and sid forks i overhauled today i realized that rockshocks has everything pretty much idiot proof. diagnosis will be something i need to work alot on, actual fixing should be easy.
ive got a couple of photos to post up, but no cord to do it with. i plan on hitting the trails tomorrow and rolling through the "Garden of the Gods", so after that i hope to have more photos of that to show everyone. that will be another post.
im pretty excited to ride actual mountain bike trails. and the up side to all of this is that i can borrow a fuel ex9 full suspension with one of the top line rockshocks forks. this is going to be amazing. anything will be better than the river train in milwaukee.
i might want to move here.
ill be back friday night.
