Going boldly where no Classicist has gone before!
Ok, maybe not entirely where no Classicist has gone before as I really need to convince my department that this IS Classics and not some weird off-shoot of Near Eastern Studies or Art History.
Today was definitely a "To the Library!" sort of day. I seriously need to get my rear into gear for some serious thesis work. Anyhow, I made the trek down to UCLA, got lost, got a shiny new library card, and got some books about Gandhara and the Seleucid empire!
On the plus side, I can now recognize Vajrapani based on his attributes alone! Random, useless specialization for the win! But hey, if you find some Gandharan relief and you're really wondering who that person with the dumbell thing and the flywhisk is, I'm your go-to girl.
And wow is it a sad thing when my evenings are spent trying to decide which episode of Avatar to watch then ultimately watching an episode of Star Trek because I can't choose between badass!waterbending or badass!earthbending. Ah well...tonight has turned into a 4chan gif marathon.
