DE World: This Symphony May Be Dangerous to Your Health They were talking about this on NPR this morning, but I couldn't find an NPR article. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra commission this piece, and it is apparently so loud that it was giving orchestra members tinitis for hours. 2nd rehearsal they _all_ wore earplugs. The manager finally cut the piece from the program, "not for artistic reasons", he assurred the NPR guy, but to protect the orchestra. NPR played a bit of it, and what a piece of self-indulgent drivel. Blech. Having an orchestra play at full volume for 20 minutes is not artistic. It's in bad taste.
