in an attempt to cheer ourselves up went to see "in the loop" today with Pwca and Ru,
Excellent production. Virtuoso sweary stuff... well worth a see. Laughed out loud far more than i expected.
Ru came back to ours and in a fit of OCD insisted on clearing a drain at the back of the house.... bigger job than thought, as we found four grow bags we had completely forgotten about. Anyhow, did another few bags before the sunshine and exhaustion drove her back in the house, a little muddier than originally found.
At one point, she pulled an errant crisp packet out of the downpipe drain and then slooshed it down with some water, then retrieving the grille which had fallen inside. There was a sudden terrible bubbling as the airlock in the drain broke and a small fountain emerged. Only about a foot up, but it was sudden enough to make us pause. or rather, make ruth, who has considerably more experience with drains than I, to beat a hasty retreat whilst I said "Cooooooo! loookatdat!" in stupefication.
It all came out well though, with the deluge being reaborbed, and after a bit more work and snippage that corner is now ivy and bramble free as well.
The growbags are stored on the garden in a sad bit that needs clearing, and the pile of baggage for clearance is now about 15 strong.
happy now bath has been had, food has been prepared and consumed. early night tonight, as we were up for the grand prix and i was still warcracking at 4.00 am.
Argh! must pack clothes for whitby! argh! Argh! ARGH!
