Er... mathematicians... in no particular order...

Archimedes. Newton. Leibniz. Euler. Gauss. Cayley. Pascal. Fermat. Euclid. Galois. Hypatia. Descartes. Fibonacci.

Most of these are math contests written in Canada. Waterloo (University) makes the contests, and names them after mathematicians.

I believe that Galois is one of those soap operas/tragedies... scanning Wiki... his father committed suicide, he failed the entrance exam to a school twice, he died at the age of twenty...

Hope that helps. :P

Galois is cool. I think he died in a duel at age 20 or something...on the day before, he suspected he would lose, so he stayed up all night writing down his mathematical ideas. [/random math trivia]

I've decided that I should become one of those people who design covers for YA fantasy novels. Yeah...
Ooh, that sounds awesome for you. :D If you do, there would never be monstrosities like the (UK children's) HP7 cover: http://mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=/dhcovers/hp7childuk.jpg.
