Out Like A Light, or Any Port In a Storm!

Hi y'all. Well, this hasn't been a bad day at all, but last night was a bit nerve racking to say the least! We were just doing our usual chilling, when I noticed sounds of wind outside. We went on reading, but the wind got up, and grew louder and louder, it blew and blew, rattling the porch screeng, and making bangs and crunches of moving things, we didn't know what or where. I got worried about Bo, all alone out there. We opened the door to see if he wanted to come in, he came for a while, to give us some loving, but he soon wanted out again. He's been used to being outside all his life, and though so friendly and gentle, will always prefer it, I think.

Well, soon after this, we heard a loud bleep. Actually, we heard it while we were cuddling Bo. I wasn't playing any music or anything at the time. When bo went out again, I went over to put something on, and found dead puter. Also dead cordless phone, dead air unit. Hmmm. No power. This country is, in some ways, frighteningly efficient. He just called 1-800-9-outage, and an automated system helped him report it. Far as I know, there's nothing like that over our side the pond! They knew about it already, and said we'd have power back by four A M. So we had an early night. The VR stream had batteries, so did a radio, so we didn't have to go to sleep in the quiet, thank heaven.

Come the morning though, I woke up to no fan going, Charles had turned it on so we'd know when power came up. Yikes! Now in this house everything runs on Electric except our two gas heaters. So if we were without power we couldn't shower, eat anything hot, have any entertainment except a battery radio and the VR stream, when they went, my Milestone.

Luckily, it didn't come to that, though the apprehension was real for a while. At about eight, we heard the power truck, and the power was back on by nine. So we got up and had some breakfast and did this and that, after which I hung in TT for a while, we were all having difficulty with the wedding stream, it buffered a lot, I'm hoping there was a recording as I'm dying to hear it!

Well, I didn't stay long, I had a new song to learn, which took me forever, kept muffing the lyric, or the tune, or both! Finally I got it, and Charles set to work on the arrangement. He's always better if I don't listen in once I've put in my three cents' worth of creativity, so I pootled off and had a game of Supers, haven't played it forever, and got a score of 63, not bad seeing as I'm so out of practice!

Well the arrangement got finished, and I sang it through, it's lush! I haven't started the recording yet though, my voice isn't up to much today, so I'll do it when I'm in better. this will be the last track, and will make fourteen. We actually have fifteen songs, but we're scrapping Ode To Billy Joe, it really isn't good enough. It's fun to sing, and Charles gives the accompaniment rock all, but my voice isn't really right, and I can't get the accent right, it sounds strange. We'll just keep that one for jamming purposes.

Well, nothing much else to report. The wind came up again this evening, I thought we might have another outage, but it seems to have dropped for now, thank heaven for small favours! Charles is learning his lesson for tomorrow, I love hearing him teach. he's singing the special too, yippee'ee'ee! And that's really it. Huge huggies to all my friends, and special congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Louis. Boyng Boyng Boyng! See y'all!
