A Livejournal, With All The Trimmings!

So yesterday I was considering deleting my LJ for a while, not permanently or anything, just for a bit. I didn't, obviously, but I did go ahead and set any entry from 2008-earlier as private, and I FLocked all of 2009 (except for any fic). I'm pretty sure most of you wouldn't have noticed, but you may have done, IDK (not the deleting, but the lack of visible older posts).

I also went through and deleted nearly all of my memories, except for the ones linking to daily_myv posts, so now I don't have any easy way of finding any of the fic I wrote on teentitan_slash, except for any that I cross-posted to my FF.Net account or dA. I kind of hate nearly everything I wrote back then, so I'm pretty glad about that, haha.

Uhhh, oh yeah, I deleted all my tags as well, and went through and re-tagged 2010, but I haven't done 2009. I know that I tend to read through people's entries under a certain tag (like books, or music, or whatever) so maybe I will? I don't know though, anyone think I should?

My subscription's running out soon, so I culled my icons down to 6 (*sob*) and changed my layout. Hopefully this pre-set is still available to basic users... *crosses fingers*

And with that, my not-so-spring cleaning of LJ is done! I don't want to banish it from my sight quite as much now. I'm not sure why I dislike most of my old entries so much, and yet, looking at them too much makes me cringe.

Oh, and whilst I'm being melancholy and ridiculous, I'm having such trouble remembering to reply or talk to people. Why is it such an effort?

And with that out of the way~

I've been doing quite a lot of sewing lately, I made some armwarmers out of my All American Rejects hoodie, although I think they need a cuff at the top to stop them from falling down. The fleece is very warm, it's also quite sturdy, so they'll be good for winter (or, uh, now, since it's freezing at night).

I used some more of the hoodie fabric to enlarge my Murderdolls hoodie - I'm not sure if I like how it looks, since the AAR one was grey with a bleach design, and the Murderdolls one is a washed out black - so they don't match very well, but it is so much more comfortable now, I guess I'm not too fussed.

I also made a new skirt! It's made from a vest and a top from Evans - the vest was always too short for my taste, but the design on it was cool, and the top from Evans was too big & shapeless, and had some weirdass frills on the shoulders, but the fabric was a really nice colour red with a faux-leopard print on it. The skirt looks really good, but I made it a little big, so I'll need to add in some elastic so that it won't, er, fall straight off of me. I used this tutorial to make it. It's really simple, so I'm sure anyone could make it, although having a sewing machine would be an asset. The fold-over waistband looks pretty damn awesome, and like Max says, it's a good way of finishing something off.

I'm kind of determined to do a lot more sewing - I have so many clothes that don't fit or that I don't like, and I'm a pretty capable sewer (seamstress? that makes me sound more dedicated/better than I am), if a little lazy... It's kind of dumb for me to look in my wardrobe (for wardrobe read: trug on my floor) and declare that I have nothing to wear to the ball. And all the cool kids do it.

Speaking of, I really want to do something similar to this: Radioactive Wasteland Tank, because I'm a geek and love zombies AND deconstruction. It looks really simple, but I don't have any tops suitable for it (unless I make one of that patchwork lookin' ones out of scraps...) and I also don't have much in the way of dye/fabric pens. Still, they shouldn't be too hard to get, and then voila, Wasteland top!

I should probably endeavour to make some leggings as well, since I only have a few, and I've completely given up on jeans since I could never find ANY that fit well. They shouldn't be too hard, right? I think the main problem would be getting the length right, and maybe the seat, although since they're leggings, would that be such a problem?

Oh, has anyone on my FList been watching The Great British Bake Off? It's fun to watch because y'know, yay baking! But also, Sue Perkins presents. And um, I have the biggest crush on her.

And finallyyyyyy. My uncle and aunt are up from London. What joy.
