Heechul’s eyes darted back and forth from Sungmin and Eunhyuk, obviously waiting for an explanation from one of them. Sungmin eyed the two warily, knowing that this was not going to end well.
“Well?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Well what? You’re the one who wanted to see me,” Eunhyuk replied. Heechul’s eyes narrowed.
“Hyukjae,” Sungmin warned quietly.
“I don’t recall wanting you to come barging in here unannounced. When I need you, I’ll call for you.”
“I don’t recall being at your every beck and call,” Eunhyuk scoffed.
“Then you obviously need your memory checked.” Before Eunhyuk could respond Heechul had already cut him off again. “As much as I enjoy our little ‘family get togethers’ I’m afraid I don’t have time for you at the moment. Leave,” he said with finality.
Eunhyuk grit his teeth and clenched his fists, eyes burning with barely restrained anger. “You’d better tell me what the hell you want now because if I leave, I’m not coming back until I damn well please.”
“Then don’t come back. That’s actually what I wanted to tell you. I didn’t think you’d be able to find that out on your own.”
“… What?”
“You are no longer allowed on this estate. I don’t want to see, hear or smell you within 50 yards of this place.”
“That’s not up to you. Whether I come here or not is my business. I don’t answer to you,” Eunhyuk snarled harshly.
“Actually,” Heechul started, and Eunhyuk froze in place. “You do.”
Eunhyuk could feel his blood racing, pumping through his body and aching to turn and attack, but he couldn’t move. He growled loud and angrily and Sungmin shrunk back slightly from the ferociousness of the sound.
“You can roar at me all you want, but that won’t change a thing and you know it.” Heechul was suddenly right in front of Eunhyuk, a smirk slipping onto his face when he saw the expression on Eunhyuk's face. “Put your little fangs away, you can’t do anything with them now.” Eunhyuk just growled again, fiercer and angrier than the last.
“You are a quite the stubborn one, but know this. I control you. That’s how it has always been and that’s how it will always be. The sooner you get that through that thick head of yours, the less of my time and energy I will have to waste.”
Eunhyuk continued to fight against the invisible restraints on his body, his face burning red in anger and frustration, but it was to no avail. The angry sounds spilling from his mouth were getting more and more enraged and Heechul took a step closer.
“You no longer live here. Do not come back. If you want to see your two little cohorts, you do it elsewhere.”
“Fuck you,” Eunhyuk snarled, the word barely recognizable through the heat in which it was expressed. Heechul only looked slightly amused.
“You know, I might be more inclined to agree if you weren’t a lowly half-breed, my dear little brother,” Heechul said with a smirk, running a finger lightly across Eunhyuk’s chin, feeling the anger rolling off of him.
“Heechul, that’s enough,” Sungmin said, softly but firmly. Heechul turned to him with a raised eyebrow, but Sungmin met his expression with an unreadable one.
“Get him out of here,” was all he said, and he turned around to leave the room. As soon as Heechul had gotten far away enough, Eunhyuk fell to the ground, no longer feeling Heechul's invisible hold on him. Sungmin was at his side in a second, trying to force the other back down.
“Hyukjae stop. Calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to fucking calm down! I am going to kill him!”
“Hyukjae think about it, you won’t even be able to touch him before he paralyzes you again. I know you’re angry. I understand how you feel but-“
“No, you don’t understand! You don’t understand anything!” Eunhyuk yelled, pushing Sungmin off of him and sending the other crashing harshly into the floor. He was about to bolt out of the door, but the soft whimper of pain Sungmin let out stopped him cold.
“Damn it. Min I- I didn’t mean to…I,” he tried to apologize, momentarily snapped out of his rage-induced haze as the other gingerly picked himself off of the floor.
“It’s fine Hyukjae. I know you didn’t mean it,” Sungmin said quietly.
“I just- ugh, fuck!” Eunhyuk swore and bolted out of the door before Sungmin could even register. He sighed and slowly slid back down, winding his shoulder and inhaling sharply at the pain that ran up his arm.
He listened as Eunhyuk’s footsteps got further and further away, shaking his head softly. He knew what dark place he was in right now, and what images were flashing through his mind. He just didn’t know that he was still so affected by it.
“Hyung?” Kyuhyun called, rushing into Heechul’s office and materializing by Sungmin’s side when he saw him on the floor. “What’s wrong, what happened?” he asked in a rush, worry clear on his face.
“I’m fine. It’ll be healed in an hour or two,” Sungmin said, gesturing to his arm.
“What happened?” Kyuhyun asked again.
“Heechul and Hyukjae got into a fight.”
“So, he took it out on you?” Kyuhyun was getting angry now.
“No, no. I was trying to pin him down. He wasn’t himself. He didn’t mean it,” Sungmin said, taking Kyuhyun’s offered hand and standing up.
“That’s not an excuse. What if he really hurts you?”
“He won’t. You know how Heechul is, and you know how much Hyukjae hates when Heechul does that to him. He couldn’t help himself.”
“Still, Sungmin-“
“Kyuhyun, you of all people should know very well why he’s like that. It’s not on purpose, and he seriously regrets it. Why make him suffer more than he already is?”
“Tch, fine. But I won’t go easy on him if he hurts you again, I don’t care what his problem is. Come on, let’s go find Leeteuk hyung,” Kyuhyun said, leading Sungmin out of the room by his uninjured arm.
Eunhyuk ran out of the back door, legs spurring him further and further away from the house. He kept going until he reached the far end of the property, where the old garden lay obscured from anyone who didn’t know where to look for it. He gradually slowed down as he went deeper into the unkempt garden, reaching his destination at the very back of the small area.
He stood in front of the ordinary markers that jutted from the ground, eyes flicking from one to the other. His hands automatically reached into his shirt, pulling out the necklace that held the only things he owned of his parents.
The brilliant white fangs shone in the light, and Eunhyuk clenched them into his fist, gaze turning hard as he looked again at the small gravesite.
“Why did you have to die? Why did you have to go and leave me alone to deal with that bastard?!” he grit his teeth and shouted.
He closed his eyes as his anger at Heechul and himself flared up again. He hated the feeling of having his power stripped away from him so easily. He needed to be in control of himself, he needed to be able to handle himself. He couldn’t risk letting anything like what happened all those years ago, happen again. He still woke up in terror at the horrific images that flashed through his mind and suffered from those memories that haunted him almost every day. He worked so hard to maintain control over himself and in a second Heechul rendered him completely powerless.
“What the hell did I ever do to him?!” he reached over and slammed his fist into a tree, sending it toppling over from the pressure when he realized that he will never get an answer to these questions, or any of the other ones that he had.
It’s not like he was particularly attached to this place, but it was still his home. The only one he had ever had. And now he’s told that he’s not allowed back? It’s not like he came to see Heechul anyway. With Heechul away most of the time or holed up in his office and Eunhyuk spending his time with Kyuhyun, Sungmin and Leeteuk, the two effectively avoided each other until Eunhyuk went back to school.
He never understood why Heechul hated him so much. Their dad died before he was even a week old, so it’s not like he took ‘dear old dad’s’ precious time away from him, and from what he was told, his dad killed himself because his mom died after she gave birth to him. He was too young to have possibly done anything to cause Heechul to resent him, and he didn’t even recall the two spending any significant amounts of time together even when he was young. His hatred was purely pulled out of nowhere. When he was younger and cared enough to ask Sungmin about it, he always said that he didn’t know either, and that Heechul has always been had to get along with. Sungmin had always told him that it would get better.
“Better my ass,” he said bitterly.
He tucked the necklace back under his shirt, ready to go back and apologize to Sungmin properly, the guilt that coursed through his system catching his attention as his mind flickered images of his smiling face through his eyes. He remembered the other’s cry of pain and he felt a stab in his chest.
He had managed to hurt someone else he really cared about.
He was just about to turn around and head back towards the house when he heard the rapid approach of someone coming close to where he was. He figured it was either Sungmin coming to check on him or Kyuhyun coming to kick his ass for hurting Sungmin.
He hoped it was Kyuhyun. Seeing Sungmin trying to cheer him up would only make him feel worse.
His ears picked up the sounds of the steps and he startled when they sounded lighter than Sungmin’s and Kyuhyun’s. He turned toward the direction they were coming from and frowned when an unknown scent finally made it's way to his senses.
Turning around immediately and assuming a defensive position his eyes trained on the figure that was coming closer and closer to where he was.
‘A girl?’ he thought, as he saw long black hair fly out behind her as she ran to where he was closing in on him. She slowed down when she was a good 20 feet away from him, all smiles and wide-eyed wonder as she looked at him.
Eunhyuk frowned and growled lightly in warning.
“Hello,” she greeted happily in English.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I followed your scent. It’s very unique, you know. I’ve never smelled one like it before, so I got curious and followed it here. To you,” she said, switching back to Korean.
“This is private property. Get out of here before I have to kill you,” he said, narrowing his eyes. She only smiled sweetly in return and didn’t move.
“Look, I am not in a good mood, I suggest you-“ his words were cut off as she disappeared briefly from view, only to appear right in front of him. He startled and quickly grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her back and pressing his nails right into her neck.
“Not a good idea,” he hissed. The girl did not seem disturbed.
“You’re quick. Quicker than I thought. Interesting,” she said as she ran her free hand up his arm and quickly disengaged herself from him.
He growled again, letting his fangs show and her eyes widened in surprise. She looked him in the eyes and smiled. “Fangs?” she asked, amusement shining in her onyx eyes. “That’s odd, considering I can hear how quickly your heart is beating in your chest, and your eyes are the most delicious shade of chocolate brown I have ever seen… Just what are you?” she inquired.
“I am someone who can rip your throat out and show it to you.”
“Ooh, feisty. I like that,” the girl smirked, her pale skin glowing lightly in the sunlight.
“I won’t tell you again. Leave, before you get hurt, little girl,” Eunhyuk said, no where near in the mood to play any games.
“Aww, don’t be so mean,” she said in English and pouted. “You should be nicer to me, oppa,” she huffed and folded her slim arms across her chest.
“Last chance,” Eunhyuk said, crouching down into position. Her eyes only seemed to twinkle at the threat, and she lifted a finger up and curled it in a ‘come here’ motion.
Eunhyuk growled before launching himself at her, arms only wrapping around empty air and he quickly turned around, seeing her walking lightly behind him.
“You shouldn’t underestimate me,” she said in a playful scolding voice. Just as Eunhyuk was about to launch again, he heard his name being called.
Turning around to the sound, he could hear the approaching footsteps of Sungmin and Kyuhyun.
“Hyukjae, huh?” the girl said, and he turned his attention back towards her. “Well, it was nice to meet you Hyukjae oppa. I had a lot of fun. Let’s play again soon, ok?” she asked, winking at him, and waving before she took off in the opposite direction, gone as quickly as she had arrived. Eunhyuk stared after her, in annoyance and confusion.
‘… What the hell was that?’

Next A/N: This would’ve been up days ago, but my stupid freakin’, flippin’ computer kept shutting down and erasing everything and then wouldn’t let me save it or even open it and I went through so much and I didn’t even turn it back on for a few days and GOD. I swear, I was so pissed off I almost deleted this story. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to update anything if this computer won’t even let me open my documents…. I hate this god forsaken computer. SO. DAMN. MUCH. >:||||||
/end rant
Anyways, I hope I’m not confusing you with the name switching, but just in case, only Kyu, Min and Heechul (or all the vampires) call Eunhyuk by his birth name, ‘Hyukjae’. Everyone else, including povs and such, refers to him as Eunhyuk. No Donghae in this chapter, but he will be back for the next one. And any guesses on who the girl is?
