Hey guys!!
I know I havent updated in forever, and I apologize that this isn't exactly a real entry.
But I really need everyones help!
For those of you who don't know-- I am writing the school musical, but we are using previously written songs-- however we are having a really hard time finding good stuff!!
If you guys know of any good NOT-well-known songs for the following situations, please reply-- it would really help me out!
1.Girl dealing with her brother's suicide
2.Love song for a lesbian couple (it doesn't have to be in duet form-- we can change that)
3.An optimistic song about morning or something (it can be vague- this is the last song of the show and takes place as everyone is coming to school after a student's suicide and we just need to end on a fairly light note- so we have some idea that things will be ok)
4.love song for a girl who is being treated with respect for the first time in her life.
5. song about being alienated from everyone
6. song about suicide as a form of fame/glory (think- "The Sun" from Pippin, but maybe a little more mellow.)
7. song about having a party- living like to fullest, having fun etc
8.song about hating school- being bored etc.-- this song takes place at the beginning of the classroom scene-- no one wants to be there
9. Any hip hop that would be plausible for high school students and actually says something significant
AND please let me know if there are ANY other songs you think would translate well to the stage
we are also looking for a broad range of music (some of the artists we are looking at right now are nick drake, cat stevens, roberta flack, ella fitzgerald, rufus wainright, the who etc the only kind of music we dont really want is anyhting too loud and punky)
Thanks so much everyone!!!
