Thoughts... meetings... and actions...

It didn't take long until he grew restless. There was a lot of people walking back and forth in the corridor, looking busy. All kinds. No demons so far, and for that Xander was grateful. He wasn't sure how he'd react if he saw a demon walk down the corridor discussing with a lawyer.... The thought alone made him grin. He thought about what that man ( Read more... )

Xander was on the right floor though, because Lilah's assistant Abby recgonized him from when they walked by her desk before. She smiled and waved him over to her desk. She figured he'd gotten a bit lost and was probably looking for her boss.

While sitting there pondering his situation, a girl by a desk waved him over. Curious, Xander walked over to her. "Hey... I think I saw you before. I am sorry I don't remember your name." Not that good with names...

Abby smiled when he finally came over to her desk. "I'm Abby, Lilah's assistant you two walked by my desk earlier. I waved you over, because you looked a little lost. Also I saw you talking to Mr. McDonald a few moments ago."

"Mr McDonald? Oh, the man that talked to me earlier? OK." The woman seemed very helpful. "You been working here long?" You could take advantage of that, of course... If you were of the evil sort. Xander hoped he wasn't considered that... But... Information was information. "Whats she like to work for?" If he was to work here, he might as well know...

Abby smiled. "Yeah, Lindsey McDonald and I've been here over two months." When Xasnder asked what Lilah was like to work for she laughed a little. "You ever see 'The Devil Wears Prada'?" She asked him. "Like that only she actually remembers names of things that she wants."

Xander grinned. He'd actually seen that movie with Willow once... He sobered up a bit. "Well, I think I can work around that." he winked. "At least if she got good memory, she'll remember to order her employees around, right?"

"Good, because one screw up and you could find yourself either out on the street looking for another job, or dead. She's got the ordering thing done to a bloody art form." Abby sighed. "I can take you to her office now if you want."

The being dead-comment really sobered him up, and he remembered what kind of law-firm this really was. Not much choice you got there, is it? he thought. He shrugged. "Sure, that would be very nice. Thank you." He smiled at her.

Abby just nodded and showed him to Lilah's office.

I had just gotten off the phone when Abby walked into my office with Xander. I looked over at them as I hung up the phone. "Get lost?" I asked Xander, as Abby left the office and went back to her desk.

Seeing a friendly face always made him feel a bit better about himself, and Xander smiled at Lilah when he walked into her office (and what an office!). "Not so much." he answered her question "I meet some interesting people though. My godess..." he added and winked at her.

Lilah nodded when he said that he hadn't really gotten lost in the offices. She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side, when he said that he'd met some interesting people. At him calling her My goddess. she frowned. "What did you just call me?"

Xander grinned. "Well, there are a couple of guys who seem to think that you are. I don't blame them. A) You look like one, and B) you walk like one to." OK, that might have sounded cheesy, but Xander didn't care much. It was, after all true. Also, she was the only one that had shown she cared anything at all for him since he ran away from Sunnydale.

"Ah so you've been talking to the mail boys. I see.." She frowned at his mention of the mail boys. When he started making comments about her looks, she smiled a little. "Yeah well.. what about a job?"

Xander looked down on the floor and pondered a little bit before answering. "You know a lot about me. You proved that pretty clearly when we first meet. Strange that... And still you want me to work here. I don't get it. I am just a regular guy. Not like my friends. And I bet you know stuff about them to, don't you?" he looked up at her, with a surprisingly sharp look in his eyes, despite his otherwise friendly approach to everything he had seen.

She sat silently listening to him. When he asked her about knowing about his friends, she nodded. "Yes I know things about them, and I still want you to work here, because I think you've got potential that we could use." She explained.

Nodding for a moment, then his features softened a bit and he smiled, although it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Sure. I'll do it. I'll work here. What do you want me to work with?"
