A/N:  I sincerely apologize for the month-long hiatus. Doing this because school works just finished. I feel so accomplished for once. @_@

“THEY DID WHAT??” Mirai’s two best-friends said in-sync.

“I knew telling you guys was a bad idea!” She beckoned, trying to calm both of the two down.

They were at a mall nearby Mirai’s house. It’s been part of their weekly routine to hang out on Sundays. Keito says they should at least see each other once a week since they don’t usually meet in school. The start of their last year made them realize the sufferings a student will encounter on one’s last few months in those halls. Both Yuto and Mirai thought that the idea was a bit of a doubt not because of their schedules, but because of Keito’s unusual perspective. He really is a soft guy, despite the fact that he looks like one of those hardcore lifters you see at a gym.

They walked around while sharing their week’s happenings. The two boys haven’t yet gotten over Mirai’s story of Yamada visiting their house. Questions kept raining on her like cats and dogs.

“What if he did something bad to you while you two were alone??” Yuto says, scrunching his eyebrows in worry, “YABAAAAIII, you’re a girl! You are obviously vulnerable to handsome guys like him!!”

“I agree! What if he pinned you to a wall or took you to a dark alley, or worse, took you to his house?!” Keito butted in, shaking the girl’s shoulders.

“Ii na, ii na! Daijoubi!” She assured, “Yama-chan is a really nice guy!”

The tall boy shook his head in disagreement, the other boy just sighed.

“You like him don’t you??” The small-asian-eyed one asked sharply, “And when did you start calling him Yama-chan? Isn’t that a little too informal?”

Mirai’s eyebrows met as she made a face. She didn’t like Yamada. At least that’s what she knows for herself. She’s only liked one guy ever since she stepped in that school. And they aren’t even allowed to be together!

“Mi-chan..” Yuto says with encouragement in his voice, “I will always be ready to support you! Whoever that guy may be!”

She smiled at her best friends, a little frustrated on how or what they are trying to make her feel. A few seconds later, she spoke, “I really don’t see him that way. Don’t worry, ne?”

--

After a few hours of nothing but strolling, laughing, eating and story-telling, they finally decided to go separate ways.

“I will definitely see you guys at school this time!” Keito tells Mirai and Yuto, “Mi-chan, please be careful. Good luck with this guy. God speed with your brothers, ne?”

Yuto bowed to his best friend (who is a girl, and no, this is not Keito. LOL) and waved as he walked opposite both their directions.

“Bye-bye!” Mirai waved back, giving her hundred-watt smile.

She made her way to the other exit of the mall.

It didn’t take her long to spot a perfect cell phone chain in a small store near the exit.

“Ah. Kawaii..” She says looking at the window.

She walked in the store and looked at the Minnie Mouse phone chain. Of course this was what caught her eye. Her room and almost half of her stuff had this special mouse in it.

The urge to buy the chain was rising. She knew she had to make it hers.

Until she saw the price.

“Yappari. I knew a cute one like you wouldn’t come cheap.” She says to herself. She was about to walk out of the store when a familiar blonde guy walked in.

“Ah!” They both say in-sync, gaping at the sight of each other’s presence.

Hikaru felt a spark down his spine as he saw Mirai. He knew this was fate, and fate was calling real loud.

“You!” He managed to say in between of the spazz he felt, “I know you!”

Okay it was a wrong choice of words, but he tried.

“Yes! Yes!” She replied to his statement, feeling a bit awkward, “You were that guy who came to our class!”

He nodded and plucked up the courage to bow.

“I-I never really got your name..” He shyly mumbled, still making it clear enough so that she could hear.

“Ah! Kota Mirai desu.” She bowed back to him, “Yoroshiku!”

Mirai? Now where have I heard that name before?

She reached out her hand and waited for him to respond. The latter thought that he was dreaming, and so he stared at her small arm, unknowingly feeding himself with nothing but fantasies. It took him about a minute or so to finally wake up from his day dream. She was still reaching out for his hand, and so he held hers, shaking it gently without wanting to let go.

“Oh, uh.. How about you?” She asks, trying hard not to feel awkward, “What’s your name?”

“Ah! Sorry!” He realized he was staring again, “Yaotome Hikaru desu. Yoroshiku!”

Mirai looked at their linked hands, then at him. Maybe he’ll get the message.

He looked at her, snapped out of his trance then finally let go.

“So..what brings you here?” She asks, wondering what a tall and manly looking guy would do in a girly store.

He scratched the back of his head then chuckled, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I really wanted to buy something.”

“Ah.”

“How about you? What did you buy?”

“Oh I didn’t buy anything.”

She looked back at the chain then gave Hikaru a weak smile. Right then he knew.

“Oh, I want to show you something!” he clapped his hands then reached to his pocket, “I have this chain, you see.” He held out his phone and showed the girl the Mickey Mouse chain that hung from one end.

Her mouth suddenly opened in surprise. She really wanted one of those too!

“Kawaii!” she gaped once more, “It’s so cute! Where did you buy it??”

“I always buy my chains here.” He replied, “I’m planning to buy the Minnie one, but then it would be weird if I had it on my phone.”

She nodded, looking at him with curiosity.

“Ne, do you want one?” he offered, looking at her.

Without even waiting for her answer, the blonde boy took the Minnie Mouse chain from its place and handed it to the cashier.

“I’ll take this please!”

“Eh?!” Mirai started to get embarrassed, “You don’t need to-“

“Ii na, daijoubu!” He says patting her head slightly.

The lady put the chain in a plastic bag and handed it to Hikaru.

Mirai couldn’t believe what she was witnessing right now.

They both walked out of the store.

“Here.” Hikaru handed her the plastic bag, “my thank you for giving back my books.”

Mirai hesitantly accepted it and grinned at the boy.

“Arigato gozaimasu!” She bowed.

--

The two of them walked around as they exchanged stories about each other. Mirai laughed numerous times after hearing all about Hikaru. He did the same, after hearing about her life with four crazy brothers. Of course he hasn’t told her about his two best friends yet, and neither has she about any of her friends.

“It’s almost dark now..” She began to bid her goodbye, “My brothers will literally kill me if I don’t get home before 7.”

“Let me walk you home then!” Hikaru says cheerfully, “I’d be worried if I let you go home alone at this time.”

The beautiful girl nodded then headed out of the mall with him.

--

“Hai, this is where I get off.” She says, facing him.

“Ah. It’s near after all.” He sighed, thinking.

“Well then, thanks again. Ja~”

“Mirai-chan!” he stopped her from walking any further, “I will see you at school, ne?”

She smiled then saluted. “Un!”

Hikaru waved to her then walked out of their street. When he was far enough and sure Mirai or anyone in particular couldn’t see him, he jumped up and down yelling in whisper, “YESSSSSSSS!!”

Little did he know there was a pair of eavesdropping eyes, watching him from afar.

“Hika-chan?” Yamada’s eyes widened as he saw Hikaru dance down their street, “Yappari.”

A/N: Rape me, Hikaru.
