A/N: I was super busy the whole week so I didn't have the time to update my journal. I miss you all, I swear!

No matter! Fanfiction is on its way in between school, workshop, tutor, volley and piano! Haha. Busy life! I feel so alive!

Written in iPhone again. Did not proof-read. Kiss me anyway. Haha. Jk.

Dozo!

Sukitte Ii na yo

"Yama-chan!" Mirai called out to him, exhausted.

He continued to run, trying to ignore her voice, still ringing in this head.

It all started with a little teasing. Their classmates were completely at their game, rattling about how he would stare at Mirai during class and how he would blush whenever she spoke to him. It was like a first-grade scene, only more annoying.

"Hey!" she panted, tugging on his sleeve as his legs finally gave in. It was Yamada after all; fastest runner in 3-D. Well, that was during sports day. This time, he was racing nothing but fate itself, and unfortunately he wasn't fast enough to escape it. As if he hasn't escaped it once before.

He stopped where the lockers were. The halls were empty and silent. The only sound that entered was the whistling music the winter wind brought along early December. It was dark and intensifying.

Yamada stood still, facing his back to the girl who was supposedly in class right now, ignoring all the hooligans that bothered the two of them. She obviously didn't have the patience to tolerate them anymore either, and so he figured that was the reason why she followed him.

"I'm sorry." her tiny voice echoed as she held onto his sleeve, pulling in more weight so he would somehow turn around.

He kept his head low, still trying to plan his escape. It didn't take long for him to finally turn to face her. He had to face her someday.

"I-" he started, but as his words tried to escape his mouth, a sudden urge to cower away was felt. He ran opposite her direction and left her in the hallways, alone and dumbfounded..

..again.

"So how many times do you expect us to go through this?" Chinen asks, sipping a bit from his juice box.

Among all of his friends, he was the only one who understood Yamada. He was the only one who hasn't teased nor tempted him. Chinen was always the one who was ready to comfort him whenever he gives up on trying.

His friend slammed his head on the table. The whole canteen hushed for about a second because of this. Good thing it didn't take long for them to get back to their own business. Horikoshi was the best place for nosiness after all.

"You do realize you're going to have to tell her somehow." the most supportive friend sips his juice again, plating with the leftovers of his lunch.

Yuto used to be one of his "supportive friends." But that was before he started to take part in a radio show with Mirai. This was the start of his very own "teasings." What a friend, Yuto. That traitor.

Yamada winced at the sight of the table across them. Ever since their whole class (except for Mirai of course.) found out about his huge crush on the girl, Chinen and him would sneak out to have their own lunches together to avoid all of the hullaballoo. Ever since then, every conversation he starts with them was a sensation of nudges and fantasies. This bothered him a whole lot, that's why he's been hanging out with just Chinen lately.

He continued to stare at the table consisting Kamiki, Yuto, Shougo, Suzuka, Saaya, and Mirai. Obviously the last person was the most uncomfortable one there. She silently ate her sandwich, smiling awkwardly once in a while when Suzuka would talk to her.

"Don't drool." Chinen says, now writing something on his workbook.

"I'm not drooling." he shoots back, wiping his face just in case.

"You know Yama-chan, I used to like Mirai." his squirrel-friend says so casually, as if any reaction of his would completely be ignored.

Yamada gaped, shocked at his sudden confession.

"But don't worry, she rejected me already." he kept his friendly composure, assuring his best friend that he has no intentions of stealing her away from him.
"I don't regret telling her though, that's a fact. Even if I knew you liked her, I still did it. I decided that if she'd reject me, I wouldn't tell you about how I confessed, along with my feelings too, of course."

The latter felt mixed feelings of bewilderedness, warmth, and betrayal. He decided to go with warmth, since he appreciated the courage Chinen had to tell him all these.

"I just had to tell you, now that I see how desperate to look." he continued, "You see, she might have a reason why she rejected me. It could be because she liked someone else. It could be because she liked you, but that isn't a reason for you to expect. The only expectation you should have is that she may or may not accept your feelings, and maybe after you've said it all, she may get a little confused, but I am sure of it Yama-chan, no matter what, she will be happy to know how much she means to you."

Chinen stood up, grabbing his books and smiled at his still-in-a-state-of-speechlessness friend. And left him there, thinking.

"I hate it when he's right." he says to himself.

The next day Yamada decided to have some alone time on his off. He needed to get his mind away from school, work and people. The thought of all of that made him want to escape the world, even just this once.

On his way to wherever his feet were taking him, he spotted an apple tree.

It wasn't that special, really. It's roots sprouted gracefully on the healthy soil, whilst it's branches soared high up, leaves bright green with apples as red as a rose.

Out of sheer curiosity, he climbed up the tree. It wasn't the safest thing to do, but to hell with that thought. It was his off, and he could die if he wanted to.

The view up there was beautiful. Usually, Tokyo would be a sight of buzzling civilized life and had the scent of lack of greenery, but this environment was different. The rest of the world was put to a stop.

"I wish every day was like this." he says to himself, holding onto the branches of the tree. He was so high up. He tried to reach for an apple, but didn't manage to catch it when it fell.

"Ow!" he heard a girl's voice from underneath him. He looked down to see who the apple just hit, but didn't recognize her face. Poor guy, poor eyesight.

"I'm sorry!" he bellowed, still trying to make out who the girl was.

"It's okay!" she replied, looking up to see who it was up that tree, but didn't succeed due to the super dazzling light the sun was giving.

The girl sat next to the tree and took out a book. She was probably a regular here since she simply sat on the grass just comfortably.

"Switching off the world as well?" Yamada asked, being the nosy boy that he is.

"More like escaping it, really." she answers, smiling at her book.

"I wish I could somehow escape it too." he agreed, still shifting his gazes here and there. It was a wonderful view after all.

"Sometimes I want the world to somehow shut up when I want to say something." she says, grabbing the apple that once fell on her head.

"Same here. So only that one person could hear me."

"I guess we're on the same boat."

"How so?"

"I've been wanting to tell this guy how I feel. I've had about a hundred opportunities, but failed miserably at every single one."

"Haha. Same here. I would always cower out. She probably thinks I'm weird now."

"I don't know. He would always run away whenever I pluck up the courage to try. Maybe he doesn't like me that much after all."

Yamada felt sorry for her. He always had the chance to tell Mirai how he felt, but he was never brave enough to go through with it.

He climbed down. She helped him make his way.

To his surprise, Yamada finally got a glimpse of the girl's face.

It was Mirai. And, she wasn't the most calm person in the world to see him either. She blushed uncontrollably, feeling the burning blood rush up to her cheeks as she tried to find an immediate excuse to her sudden fright.

Yamada wanted to cry, but that would be absolutely irrelevant for their situation right now.

"Yama..chan," she managed, "I didn't know it was you, I'm sorry."

Mirai bowed a couple of times before Yamada could speak.

"You don't really need to apologize," he rubbed the back of his head, nervous, "I honestly didn't know it was you myself."

They both stay silent.

Yamada was about to speak, but then Mirai did the same. In sync, they tell each other to go first, in sync again, they laughed after a few consecutive "you-no-you's."

Then there was a comfortable silence. They looked at each other shyly, waiting for a perfect moment to insert words. It was like in the movies, where a couple was about to profess each other's love. In fantasy world, they would be snogging already by this time, but our lovely YamaShi isn't like other couples now, aren't they?

Yamada glanced down, rubbing his nape. Mirai scratched the back of her head.

"So." she said.

"So." he says after her.

They both smile.

In mere minutes, faint sounds of thunder start to ring in their ears. Mirai covered hers after a loud bang, looking like an abandoned puppy. Yamada simply smiled as he fought the wicked urge to hug her and tell her that he was here to protect her.

"Mirai-chan is afraid of thunder. I forgot all about that," he murmured to her, "Don't worry, I doubt it would get any louder."

In a split second, a huge surge of lightning flashed in the middle of the sky, followed by a gigantic bawl of thunder once again.

Mirai squeaked. She jumped and buried herself all of a sudden to the boy's chest, her face underneath his chin.

Yamada was held back a bit by the fast movement. His heart thumped and was beating furiously at the skinship they were experiencing right now. It's not everyday he has the girl of his dreams this close to him. The feeling of wanting to run away was felt, but the overwhelming joy was there as well. Following the stronger feeling, he put his arms around her, embracing her lightly as she shook with fear, still not looking up to face him.

Say it now, say it. He thought to himself, there was no better time than now. Say I love you.

"Mirai." he gulps, getting her off his chest and held onto her shoulders, making her face him.

She wiped vague tears from
Her eyes and stared attentively at him. She knew that it was time for her to say it as well.

Say it. Go on. She thought to herself. Say I love you.

Rain started to pour vigorously. They both took deep breaths and exhaled the words they've been wanting to say to each other for a long, long time.

In sync once more, they both cry out...

"I love you."
