I luff Duran Duran and have a little to say about it
I get digust from all quarters and am in two minds about it myself. After all they were a band very concerned with being easy on the eye to the detriment of acheiving any musical depth (were they capable of it I dunno??).
I know I should despise their superficiality and deride their approach of supermodels gliding around on their arms and scantily clad in their vids as sexist.
BUT
I suspect I am just as superficial because
I appreciate their aesthetic approach because it meant they prettied themselves up as well. I like prettiness, the way that Simon LeBon and Nick Rhodes will go mincing around in wedding dresses and faces full of make up, I adore their looks. The gorgeous slashiness of it all.
The thing is the music is pure feel goodery and worthwhile for that alone in places anyway...this of course not extended to Wild Boys and Hungry Like the Wolf they can fuck right off now
No Not good songs at all not even slightly and I don't care how pretty John Taylor looks in that video I can't forgive such wrongness for the sake of a pretty face lol I'm not quite that superficial...
