I have decided that I should share something with you and it is this. I go to the cinema alot because I have a 11.99 a month cinema pass which means I can get in as many times as I want without paying any extra. Because of this I have had the occasion to see the trailer for the upcoming Richard Curtis movie The Boat that Rocked many many many tiems and I hate every nasueating moment of that trailer.
Obviously I haven't seen the film, nor do I plan to, so sadly I will never be able to say that I despise the film and perhaps the film itself isn't quite so insufferable but I strongly doubt it.
Anyway the trailer is so fucking manipulative, all like,
HEY LOOK YOU GUIZ DON'T YOU ALWAYS ROOT FOR THE REBELS AGAINST THE STUFFY SUITED ESTABLISHMENT?? WELL HAVE WE GOT REBELS FOR YOU, THESE ARE SUCH REBELS THAT RHYS IFANS HAS TO WEAR A FEATHER IN HIS CAP TO EXPRESS IT.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO YOU DON'T ALWAYS ROOT FOR REBELS AGAINST THE ESTABLISHMENT??
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DONT WANT TO BE TOLD WHO TO LIKE BEFORE YOU'VE SEEN A FILM.
HOW ABOUT IF WE THROW IN SOME KRAZY, DEEPLY UNFUNNY SEXUAL INNEUDO LADEN MISADVENTURES FOR THE REBELS? DOES THAT SWAY YOU TO THEIR SIDE AUTOMATICALLY REGARDLESS OF HOW OBNOXIOUS THEY ARE??
STILL NO?
BUT HOW ABOUT IF WE HAVE SOME SIXTIES SOUL MUSIX ON THE SOUNDTRACK???
FUCK OFF!
:( :(
Like my brother said I'm sure the story of pirate radio is an interesting one that deserves a film and you know me and my love of music means that to me a good music film is always worth it but is a Richard Curtis 'comedy' really the way to go?
Every supposed funny moment in that trailer made me groan and throw up a little, the jokes were just so fucking cheap and nasty and yack I just can't stand it.
It's so clearly trying to tell me how to think and failing.
I want to yack just thinking about it.
Yes that post contained both irrational hatred and the overuse of the word yack.
woe,
irrational hatred,
rant,
cinema,
reasons why i will end my days alone
