Where are you from originally? Do you think you'll ever move back home to be closer to family? How often do you see your family each year? I'm genuinely curious. I feel as if my family is scattered all over the place. I live close to my parents and elder relatives, but so many family members are elsewhere and it feels funny and hurts my heart

My whole family has scattered a ltitle bit.
My dad was born in Sacramento, CA, but grew up (high school, college) alone (military school) in New Mexico. He met my Mom in Ruidoso, NM.
My mom was born in El Paso, as were all her siblings. My brother and I and all my cousins were also born there.
My dad's parents now live in Monterey, CA. One of his sisters lives in Pacific Grove (right next to Monterey.. actually a few blocks from my grandparents). One cousin lives in Carmel near there.. her sister and family lives in Berkeley (where their parents went to college).
His other sister lives in Portland, as does one of her daughters and her family. The other cousin lives in South Carolina now, I think? Her husband is in the Army and they move around a bit. They spent the last few years in Germany, but they're stateside again. He didn't go to Iraq, but he did go to Afganistan a few times.
One of my mom's sisters still lives in El Paso. Her kids (my cousins) live in Phoenix and now Killeen (in Texas, not terribly far from Austin, really). My mom's other sister lives here in Austin, as do two of her children (one with a family). My other cousin (and her family) from that aunt lives in El Paso.

My brother lives in Austin, too.

I grew up in the Dallas area. I went back this weekend, but I wouldn't want to live there again. I'd rather live in Austin, New Mexico, or Arizona. My mom's dad now lives in Green Valley, AZ, which is just south of Tuscon, which is Retirementville. (They both are.) Or I could live in Nevada. I love the west.

In short: I see my parents once a month or every few months.. I see my extended family on my mom's side once a year or so, not necessarily all at the same time. I see my dad's side of the family every few years. I see my brother every few weeks or so, depending on parties or hanging out

My heart is in New Mexico. My soul is in Texas. I don't think I'd ever live east of here (sorry). But Seth and I have talked about moving to Curacao or even Africa.. but we'll end up somewhere in Texas or west of here.
