Trijicon to remove Bible verses from rifle sights So this news is all well and good for United States soldiers serving overseas, but I see no promises from Trijicon to patch the ACOG sights I have already unlocked for my rifles, machine guns, and submachine guns in
Call of Duty 4 and
Modern Warfare 2. We need some accountability here. While I need that scope to take full advantage of my weapons' range, I worry that every headshot I rack up at extreme distance supports American imperialism in Afghanistan or the Georgian-Russian border or Pakistan or wherever the hell Call of Duty multiplayer occurs. Further complicating the matter, a good sixth of the time I am actually playing as Islamist fundamentalist terrorists, which makes me feel extra bad.
While the United States armed forces number almost three million individuals, many--in fact most--of whom have not reached the required kill count to unlock the offending scope, the Modern Warfare games have sold nearly twenty million copies, and pretty much every player has unlocked the ACOG for their favorite weapon at least, and probably more like a dozen of them per multiplayer career. So long as Trijicon retains the monopoly on long-distance combat optics at one hundred fifty kills and above, I call on the United States Department of Defense, Infinity Ward, and Trijicon to attend to their largest market first, lest the Islamic world rage quit in disgust and crash the server of international relations for all of us.
