Halloween

I've changed my mind. I no longer support holding the Halloween party in ML.

• Objectively speaking ML is an abysmal party space. Two large rooms connected by one narrow staircase, with only two bathrooms, one of which is accessible only via an even more narrow staircase? Also note that the ML Breakfast Room is so small that a sort of inebriated churning takes the place of dancing.
• Distance from campus doesn't do anyone any good, except for the police. It's inconvenient for campus kids to haul ass all the way to ML, and they're at risk of arrest trying to walk back to campus, so that means they have to wait for shuttles and buses (meaning that it's hard to get rid of drunks). I'm sure the police are just marking it on their calendars now.
• It's hideously unfair what happens to the dorm. Campus kids come and vomit all over our dorm, since it's far from their house and they don't have to wake up and deal with it the next day. So ML kids, whether or not they're going to participate, have to set up and clean up the dorm every year, which is a nightmare especially for the RA's. I went into the basement bathroom with rubber gloves, a mop, and a gas mask.
• People have sex on our lawn. Or urinate on it. Or break into Eliza's bathroom.

I'm trying not to factor in the fact that most ML kids don't like to party, since I don't want to pigeonhole MLers as nerds for all of eternity. Still, something's gotta be done. We can't keep foisting responsibility for an unworkable party onto four RA's and an unwilling dorm.
