Taking a break from cleaning my apartment a bit. I couldn't concentrate on a THING with all the clutter. And I HAD been hoping to use this day off (Happy Veteran's Day) to catch up with my classes. Oh, well. At least the place will be clean.
I was feeling bad about not posting as much as well. I've really been in a fog. There has been nearly nothing coherent to say about what's happening. I'm on a treadmill, so I feel I'm saying the same things again and again.
I did, however, start reading a great book: "American Islam: The Struggle for the Soul of a Religion" by Paul M. Barrett. It is definitely giving me an expanded perspective on Islam in the world, let alone here in the States. The more I read about religion, the less religious I feel. There are some really, really admirable people that Barrett gets to speak out on the issue, though. I have a mind-crush on Khaled Abou El Fadl now. I had to shut the book and giggle and stomp my feet and shout "YES!" at least three times. And that was just on his views of Islam and women. When he moves on to talking about how Islam stopped growing and Wahhabism? ::fans self:: Well. I don't know why I hadn't heard of him before. Spread the word, y'all.
Take care. I will do better. I will do better. I will do better. And eventually, I'll write here more!
