Part 1: The Birth of You
Were you a planned baby?
I don't think any of us were planned. We just happened.
Were you the first?
No. I was number five of six.
Who was present at your birth?
My mom and some medical professionals. Back before dulas and midwives and such were trendy.
Were your parents married when you were born?
Yes, they were.
What is your birthdate?
In January.
Part 2: The Family
Are you parents married or divorced?
Divorced
An only child?
I wish...LOL! No, really I don't. They were the only friends I had, my siblings. Even though they think I'm nuts.
Which parent do you get along with best?
I get along with my mother best. I don't really know my father.
Do you have step parents?
Well, my father remarried. My mother did, too. Then she re-divorced.
Part 3: The Friends
Do you have more than one best friend?
No. I'm too plural. I can't choose one of anything. Glutton, am I.
What do you like to do when you are together?
My friend and myself? My oldest friend lives in Dallas, TX. I've known her since 4th grade. She is married. I don't talk to her as much as I'd like and haven't seen her for years. But I still love her.
Do you share the same interests?
Some of the same interests, yes. If this is the Texas friend we're discussing.
Part 4: Your Personality
How high/low is your self esteem?
Fairly low sometimes. Yet, healthily so in a way. I think 'self-esteem' can be a misused term for the vain. I like myself well enough lately, though.
Do you get depressed about things easily?
Yes. I also laugh easily.
Are you an extrovert (outgoing) or an introvert (reserved)?
Way introverted.
Are you happy?
Sometimes.
Do you live life to the fullest?
What. The. Heck. Does that mean? I'm living. I'm makin' plans. I'm achieving. What more?
Part 5: Appearance
Are you comfortable with the way you look?
As long as I don't leave the house.
Describe your hair?
Kinky/curly. Black w/a patch of silver.
Part 6: The Past
Were you a strange child?
They did send me to a school for emotionally troubled children. Enough said.
Do you have the same friends?
I have a couple of friends from way back. Ms. E in Dallas and Ms. A who is a nurse in Chicago. She's here as
paraesthesia. I've known her since about 6th grade.
Was there anything in your past that was traumatizing?
A few things, yes. What? Multiple ear infections and having kids throw firecrackers near me to watch me jump and shriek. I often spent the 4th of July sweltering under blankets with cotton in my ears. Fireworks sound too much like I'm living in Beirut. I am wound way tight sometimes and have an exaggerated startle response. What else? That week in the hospital to test for Dwarfism was haunting. Let's see: nearly raped at six. Party became the p-word at ten. Even my brothers had cake and went whore-mongering rather than hang with me. I don't know how to swim because some bastards at the pool held me under when I was visiting my favorite uncle. I was too ashamed to tell him because I was having such a nice visit with him 'till then. That's next on my things to get over, though. I hope to be swimming before I'm 40. Hmmm. Seeing my brother hit his girlfriend and not being able to look at him the same way afterward. I don't think he gets it to this day. Keep yo' brothers straight, now: I can call them 1-4 for you. One, the oldest, died. Two is an addict, a compulsive liar, but a nice guy and a hard worker and a mechanical genius. Three is the ass who has eight kids by six women and needs to get himself together. He's the one I saw hit a girl, yet he has to beat off the poontang with a stick. Four is my rock and drove me here to Eugene. He's inspiring in how he treats his daughters. Then me. Then my sister.
Part 7: The Future
What is your ambition?
To be a mental health nurse and a counselor. And to write/draw/paint/sculpt for myself when I'm not counseling or helping others.
Are you scared of growing old?
Nah. That's the equalizer. Everyone will be as unattractive as I am. Mwaahaahaa. Kidding.
Do you want to get married?
I don't have an aversion, just don't think it's going to happen. And I'm not sure I'm built for a marriage of convenience, as pragmatic as I am.
Part 8: The Outdoors
Do you prefer indoors or outdoors?
How about outside but on a porch.
Favorite Season?
Fall.
Do you like walking in the rain?
Depends on how hard it's raining and how cold it is.
Part 9: Food
Are you a vegetarian?
Just recently. Odd you should ask. I just haven't spoken of it.
What is your favorite dessert?
At my last job in Minnesota, the woman there made a treat for me for my going away. It was *delicious*. It was a creamy peach flavored thing. Mmmm. I'm not big on chocolate cake, but chocolate bars are good. And cheesecake. And taramisu. Baked pears w/ice cream. What's my favorite dessert? Yes. That's my answer: yes. Yes. Yes.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Oh, dear. I don't know yet. Back in the MN it was
SAPOR. They had the BEST squash soup ever!
Are you a fussy eater?
Not really. I'm just not as adventurous an eater as Eric is. I used to be all about the gas station fare: hot dogs, microwave burritos, etc. I'm trying to eat better.
Part 11: Experiences
What was one of your greatest experiences?
Doing a sculpture for class and NOT having it explode in the kiln. I fashioned a likeness of a character I was writing about and it turned out okay. It's still at my mom's house. And meeting Steve Stevens, though I froze and couldn't tell him of my plans to have him teach me guitar and be his protege. I wanted to start a rock band and have it initially become famous because of having a little black girl on lead guitar. But then I'd wow them with my actual talent. Yeah. It's all part of my rock and roll fantasy. Good thing I couldn't open my mouth and make MORE of a fool of myself. In case you don't know: Steve Stevens (horrible name, I know) was Billy Idol's guitarist. This was in 1989 and I was 19. Forgive me.
What was one of the worst?
Watching my brother die was not fun. Eighth grade in particular was not fun. I had a blast at the school for emotional retards in high school, though. Aside from watching folks get taken down and thrown in the 'quiet room' every other day. *shudder* There were some real...characters there. They were affiliated with a mental hospital not far away.
Have you ever done drugs?
No heavy stuff, really. But that wasn't the question. I'm an equivocator. Forgive me. That would be a yes.
Have you ever thought you were going to die?
Yes. I donated blood and ran up the stairs to catch the El train back home. I blacked out for two minutes. Luckily nothing happened. It was Chicago, but it was the middle of the day. I also climbed a 70 foot cliff in 8th grade with the "Earn and Learn" program. It was the summer training portion of a job program. My first job at 13. Climbing was SO scary. Rappelling was the shite, though. And a couple years ago when I had to have those cervical biopsies. I prepared msyelf that they would find something bad and I'd have to step up my goals a notch.
I was just looking at my icon. Eric says I look stoned. The sun was in my eyes! Frankly it's one of my better photos. I'm glad I changed it. Okay. That was random. I'm going to bed...
