How could you be so insensitive?
The liquor. You have to stop. Starting now. You throw the empty bottle into a bin and lock the remaining bottles away. Why should you get the luxury of numbing the pain when she can’t. You told her that you were in this together. You’ll mean it this time.
You walk up to her to apologize and that’s when your heart breaks. Strands of hair lay on the table in front of her. Her tears sober you completely. You take her in your arms.
“I’m sorry. I’m an idiot.”
“About time.”
