As America develops and transitions into the new millennium, I am noticing that regional differences are mounting. These differences have always been present, but the nation as a whole has been able to integrate these differences of opinions by focusing on similar values and shared goals. I no longer believe that the separate Regions of America are willing to share the same goals, and no longer share the same values. Would it be better if we were to break apart? Perhaps not down to individual states, but to regions of shared cultural identity. We can see in the Middle East that nations formed by the British despite conflicting cultures have lead to distressing results. What would Americans think, if given the vote to divide the nation? What would be the cost and consequence? What would be the benefit? Would a less deadlocked, more accountable, and more responsive government be worth a reduction in security? Would the economic hit on the world stage be worth the ability of each region to focus more on local issues with less bureaucratic yoke? I’d like a quick yes/no from you F-List- and points of discussion are welcomed. How do you think the general public would respond if this was on the ballet?
