I have to go into work at 10:00. I don't mind working on saturdays. I actually have a fair amount of stuff to do today. So, I made my plasmid. Now I need to make millions of couples of the plasmid. You do this by growing the cells that we transformed the plasmid into. I did that last night. So, we then go and burst some of the cells in order to get to the plasmid. We also keep some of the cells on ice in a glycerol solution so that we can grow more cells if we ever need them. I will be testing what I made against a wild type p53 to see if we can alleviate some binding problems between DNA and p53. We we can then I will be getting published. :)
Some people in the lab and I went to a tradesfair in the stadium. Basically, about thirty different scientific reps came and tried to hawk equipment. I got a free t-shirt, some magnets, nice gloves, and some other stuff. Turns out those gloves were flammable. I was trying t flame the lid of a media bottle and my thumb caught on fire. The gloves we use are pretty not flammable...
I don't think I've written about this, but Stacey got a new cat. It is one the andersons had. She has called it Whiskey. She's had troubles with it urinating on towels and chairs. He hasn't been fixed yet so that might be the problem. I have not seen it yet except through two pictures she posted on facebook. It looks cute. Apparently it and sophia get along well, which was the original plan.
My mom got a cat, also. After years of telling us we couldn't have a cat because she is allergic, she let a stray into the house over the winter. The cat was pregnant and had to get a kitty abortion via Dr. Hennessey. Debbie named her Odessa (wtf?). She's a sweet cat, she slept with me a couple times during winter break. I am really looking forward to have animals around the house.
August 28th or 29th stacey and I will be flying to Jamaica! I am pumped. We got passports and everything. Passports are actually pretty cool... Anyway, we are going to a place in montego bay ( I think) called couples isle tower or something like that. It is an all included. There is also horseback riding, a gym, and other awesome stuff. I used all the money I made over the summer to pay for it but I think it will be well worth it. It makes me happy that I am taking Stacey somewhere she's never been. :)
Stacey made me an awesome journal and I have been putting my favorite quotes into. It is little and green. She also wrote why she loved me in it. I got a couple months ago but I haven't updated since then.... so... yah.
Here is a picture of the late Steve Prefontaine. Dude was a beast.
