[As Private as These Journals Can Be]
I have a theory.
If all ghosts are very sad,
and there are many ghosts in Ceres,
Then Ceres is a very sad place.
The difference between "inductive" and "deductive" reasoning has everything to do with anything, because everything is irrelevant, anything is arbitrary, and something is always key. If something is always key, and keys always solve cases, it is a logical conclusion that something will always solve a case. That something is an item that I possess, and they don't. C'est la vie, that's how it goes... some of us are born with pale hair, and some with dark. Some of us have brains, some of us have better brains, and some of us can use our better brains more efficiently. That is a something that has nothing to do with hair. Frankly, I think that blonds could be dumber. But that is an emotional reaction, not a deduction. A logical assessment progression would be:
All blonds are idiots.
The Creator of this system of segregating people by the stuff on top of their heads is/was blond.
The Creator of this system is/was/will always be an idiot.
None of that is based on fact, as far as I know... but I have a hunch.
Ghosts aren't based on fact, either, but if they do exist then they could very well be sad. And in these slums, it is sometimes difficult to ignore emotion in favor of cold logic because sadness makes them cold. So cold that even the most logical man on earth could sacrifice reason to believe that there is a reason for the chill, and that the reason is something easy to name but hard to explain. Ghosts.
If I don't find somewhere to rest soon, I'll be outside all night again...
A person left outside could freeze or be hurt.
I might be left outside.
I might freeze or be hurt.
That's not a thought I'd like to entertain much longer.
