>So is it normal to become turned on when you're writing erotica?
Only if you're writing good erotica.
You write good erotica.
Thus, it's normal.
Other than writing novel-length journal entries and comments, I'm not really writing lately...if I wasn't going to be just out of the hospital when it started, I would do http://www.nanowrimo.org/ (National Novel Writing Month), just because writing 50,000 words of anything that is vaguely coherent in 30 days would get me going (the goal is to write a novel in a month - not because it'll be good - but just so you have actually written a novel, and it'll get you writing over a 1,000 words a day) - right now, what I need is discipline to actually write, and write consistently. Hell, I have a short story that got rejected by one place, and I didn't even bother to a) revise it and/or b) send it elsewhere.
Sorry to ramble so much. Glad to hear you're writing again - I think subconsciously we feel guilty when we write fiction after what we've been through - I also know that I have this little voice saying, "what's the point?"
yeah, i understand what you're saying. i do think the concept of fiction in times like these is hard, but also very needed. I think that's why i've been so upset that i haven't been writing.
