Picture spree!

Hello everybody! Long time no see, eh? Well, I'm not sure whether I mentioned it or not, but the hubby had three weeks off from work, and since we'd bought this magnificent computer fantasy RPG, "Guild Wars," and the weather has been awful the whole time, we ended up playing day in, day out, having loads of fun. I'll probably put up one or two screenshots of the characters I've created thus far, but not right now. What I'm about to show you today are pictures of two things: 1. that Mah-Jongg T-shirt I designed for a friend, and 2. the door banners I made (with much helping from the hubby), which now decorate our foyer. Well, are you ready?

1. the Mah-Jongg T-shirt:

The design goes back to some insider-joke kind of thing. The friend who got the shirt from us (his name is Wilfried, by the way) used to play Mah-Jongg with us and another friend on a regular basis. As we played, it happened that one or the other tile in the game would be bestowed with a nickname. One of those tiles is the seven circle. For some reason, which I'm too lazy to disclose to you right now, it was Christened "das Grauen" (engl. ~ the horror). That's what the crimson writing on the front of the shirt says (I'm sorry that particular picture is a little blurry):

On the back, you have the tile in question, the seven circle:

As you were already able to see in the pictures above, the sleeves of the shirt have been decorated with the remaining eight tiles of the circles--the odd ones on the left sleeve, the even ones on the right.

This T-shirt was the first time that I used those colours which are applied to a foil straight from the tube, and then, once they've dried, you iron them onto the cloth/article of clothing of your choice. I was surprised at how well it worked, so that naturally became also the technique I used for . . .

2. the door banners:

As I once mentioned, I am an addict to the 'Legacy of Kain' game series, and I became quite infatuated with the clan symbols and banners of the vampire clans featured therein. Ever since the hubby and I realised that our foyer sports exactly the same number of doors as there are clan symbols in the game, we wanted to make banners ourselves. Here now you find the results, and also some pictures of the banners in the making.

The sewing was up to me:

The hubby found lots of opportunities to lend me a hand, though:

(And no, this hasn't been hand puppets we've been making! LOL!)

Once the sewing was done, the hubby was so kind as to iron the symbols onto the banners--I had prepared the symbols some days prior.

Now, as for the finished banners, we put them up in our foyer. Kain's personal banner is the one to decorate the entry door;

. . . the others, moving on in clockwise order, are the clan banners of Zephon (our little 'enclosure,' where my degus and the hubby's tarantulas are kept):

. . . Raziel (our study):

. . . Rahab (bedroom):

. . . Melchiah (living room):

. . . Dumah (kitchen):

. . . and Turel (bathroom):

Unfortunately, the picture of the Melchiah clan banner is a little dark; that's because the arch in our foyer is casting its shadow on it. But I think you still get the idea. ;o)
