The last month has been super super busy and a lot of amazing things have happened during it. Memorable things include seeing Comets On Fire twice (completely mind-blowing guitars), Golden Plains, the festival we put on in Sydney, playing what was perhaps the best show we’ve ever played in Sydney (see this review, it’s quite embarrassing, really - http://www.messandnoise.com/reviews/730945), getting to hang out with a few of my best friends in Sydney that I haven’t seen in far too long. That weekend in Sydney I got to know a few people heaps better than I did and for that I’m really glad. The trip up to Sydney was pretty shit but sharing the car with Dase, Juzzy and Tara made it better, as did Dase and TJ’s awesome record collections. I drove part of the way to Sydney, which was kinda good.

Felix also left, which was sad. His going away party, just before Golden Plains was fun, singing Needletail and Kodan Armada songs in Tim’s room. The night before he left, after getting ridiculously drunk off free alcohol at Spoon with Georgie, Michael and Nat, we walked/rode to the Quehouse. As I was riding down Mountfield Street I fell asleep as I was riding and ran into a car. It was kinda funny/brutal. Anyway, got there and got to say a final goodbye to the Cat. It was pretty sad.

Golden Plains was spent drunk or drinking, stoned or smoking hash (much better than weed, officially), or watching bands. Comets On Fire, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Darren Hanlon, Yo La Tengo and !!! were the best.

In Sydney I got to see some of the best bands in the country - my favourites were probably Naked On The Vague and Eucalypt. Tragics and Fabulous Diamonds were also amazing. I play drums on a Liars cover with Tragics, and then sung on Great Discovery. That was pretty funny. I got spend a heap of time with Todd in Sydney - he is seriously the best dude ever. Gulias is also now my favourite café in Sydney. The Maltese café is still great, though.

Just around the corner from Lanfranchis (where I stayed, which was awesome) there was a great Chinese place that made amazing deep fried tofu. Best thing ever. Also, along with Paul, became kind’ve addicted to vegan hot dogs. Working of the store at the festival became dangerous.

Since I’ve got back from Sydney I’ve been working heaps and band practicing heaps. Our EP is completely written and we’re recording it in a house in the forest this weekend. I can’t wait. Down at Cal’s grandmother’s house in the Gippsland Lakes, completely isolated, no distractions, just three days of making something we’re really proud of, with Pete. Really excited about it. We’ve also just worked out the artwork (Ross from Brisk is doing it), and have come up with a tentative title. The booking of the tour has begun and the launch shows are going to be on July 14 and 15th and Exile On Smith Street and Spoon, respectively.

Molly is amazing. On Saturday night we went to Converge, along with Cal, Sophie, Juzzy, Tara, and caught up with Izzy and the Robotosaurus guys. Good night. Good show. Good band. Afterwards we went to some lame karaoke bar in the city with Tim and Bridge and Jess and Lexi and Jack and co where we drank overpriced drinks and sang with weird Asian dudes. It was fun.

The next morning Tim, Bridget, Molly and I drove to Camberwell and went to the market and the record, comic and trading card fair that was on up the street. Market was good, I had a gander at a really interesting photographic book about the Battle of Boglin. Bridge bought a bike. I bought John Coltrane record at the record fair that had Roy Haynes playing drums on it. Score. Almost bought a Roland Kirk record but it was a bit overpriced.

The plan that I posted in the last entry has changed in almost every way. Yep.

PS: Savers is shit.
