The last two weeks have been super busy. The Evens show at Cloud City (my house) was amazing. The show sold out by 8pm (doors opened at 7.45), with 300 people inside our house and a whole bunch out the front watching through the windows. The crowd were so well behaved and good to the space, with the cleanup afterwards taking all of 5 minutes (if that). The Evens were amazing (both as a band and Ian & Amy as people). Their set was engaging, funny, and musically awesome. Such a perfect first show for the warehouse.
The week that followed that saw me begin my employment at Savers Brunswick. It’s boring as all fuck, and really nothing more than a temporary measure to allow me to continue the ‘lifestyle’ that I’ve begun to live. I’m hoping to get some clerical work, maybe 3 - 4 days a week within the next fortnight. Fingers crossed. Thursday I had lunch with Dad and got a bunch of posters printed out for the last Needletail / Breeds There A Man…? show, which saw me riding my bike around the city a whole lot. Friday night Cal came over and we worked on some guitar parts for a few hours before microwaving meals and watching the footy. As Collingwood began to lose, we turned over to watch the final ever episode of the OC, and get all nostaligic about year 10. Funny times. Afterwards I ventured out to Sydney Road to do some postering, but only got as far as the Retreat Hotel, where I had a few beers with Tim, Juzzy, Felix, Tom, Adam, Martin (crazy psycho), Jess, Lex and co. Then Tim and I postered all the way up Sydney Road.
Saturday was spent with the Eucalypt boys who arrived that morning and were staying with us for a few nights. Went and saw Eucalypt, Pet Cemetery, J-Lo Biafra and Combover at Irene’s that evening (all of whom ruled) and then after eating one of the best Spoon meals I’ve had with them, I rode my bike to the Northcote Social Club to see Laura. They were quite amazing. Hung out with Andrew afterwards, t’was good to catch up. Molly then came over afterwards and stayed over. In the morning I slept through my alarm and missed work at Dimmeys, which was annoying as the pay from there is much needed. Instead I hung around the warehouse with Pete getting it set up for the show that night. Playing there in the day/early evening was weird and awkward and there was a really bad vibe to play to, but once the sun went down (by These Hands’… set) it was far better. All the bands were great again. Needletail’s last show was pretty fitting. Tim and I sung ‘Going Down With The Ship’ with them, which I was pretty nervous about, but was really glad I did. Anyway, they played an amazing set and it was pretty sad. Glad they went out well though.
Afterwards Eucalypt and Quebec and Sean and Boyer all hung out on the Macromantics couches (she gave us her couches, for some reason) and drank beer and got high, before stealing a fence from up the road for our front courtyard. The next night saw this courtyard act as the founding place of the ‘Cloud City Can-On Club’, where we sit and drink during the bands we’re not particularly interested in. T’is fun. The Camera Obscura show went well; Crayon Fields and Pikelet were amazing, Camera Obscura were pretty good too. Kerry from Christie Front Drive was the sound guy…!!!!
On Tuesday Eucalypt, Boyer, Tim, Juzzy and I went to Soulfood for breakfast and then we saw them off. It was awesome having them down; best guys/band ever. That night I got a call from Stature::Statue asking if they could crash at the warehouse, and so we now have visitors again. It’s good. Spent Tuesday night drinking goon in the courtyard with them, and last night I played sax with them at 161. Good times.

UPDATE: Last night after work I went to St Jerome's and got drunk with Tim, Cal, Nige, Deitz, Lovie and some other guy. Then went to Roxanne's and saw Japanther who were kinda average. Then went to Brunswick St and ate greasy pizza. GOOD NIGHT.
