1- What are you currently reading? Title and author.
Double Dexter, the sixth Dexter book by Jeff Lindsay.
2- What do you like about the main character?
He's actually pretty hilarious, for a serial killer. But he's not hilarious on purpose really, but some of the things he says or how he acts make him really funny. I also think that, aside from being a serial killer, he's not really a bad person. Don't ask me how that makes any sense, but I guess because in a way he wishes he wasn't the way he is, he can't help it, and he knows what he does is wrong. And he tries his best to stick with the rules he has about killing people (only killing people who deserve it, and finding solid proof before doing it, etc.). A lot better than most serial killers at least.
3- What do you dislike about the main character?
I guess how emotionless he is. But again, it's not like he can help it. Sometimes it can just get annoying when he doesn't understand how other people feel, especially his sister. It seems so obvious and he's so good at faking feelings that when he doesn't understand why she feels a certain way or something, it's just like, Dexter, seriously?
4- Can you see using this book for fandom use?
As in can I do something with it within the fandom? Honestly, no, because most people who are fans of Dexter are fans of the TV show. I need to find a community on LJ dedicated just to the books or something. I've watched the show (and recently did just buy the first two seasons but haven't started watching them yet) and I do love the show, but I like the books a lot more and it just seems like hardly anyone has read the books compared to watching the show. They're practically like two different fandoms anyway, since the books are so different from the show. If I wanted to say, write a fanfic or something, I don't think people would understand it unless they've read the books as well and a lot of people just haven't. And for some reason, as much as I love the whole "Dexter" thing as a whole, I've never really been into the fandom a lot. I don't know why because I usually get right into a fandom when I love it as much as I love Dexter, but it's really just something I keep to myself for some reason. And I read the first book in like, 2008 or something like that, so it's been a few years and I still just seem to keep quiet about it.
5- What genre does it belong to? Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Literature, etc?
I guess it's like a crime/mystery type novel? Maybe it would count as like a thriller or something.
6- How does it compare to your favourite author(s)?
Jeff Lindsay is one of my favourite authors and compared to other ones I like, I don't know, he's the same? I guess if I like a book I like a book, I don't care what the writing style is like or whatever. So I don't know. I like him equally as much as other authors.
7- What is the next book you plan to read?
The second book in the Hunger Games series, Catching Fire.
8- What would you like to read if you had the time and money?
Lol I don't know, I guess I would just want to read more of what I wanted to read, not school books or stuff like that. I enjoy pleasure reading (and why would you read something if you're not going to enjoy it anyway, unless it is for school?). I'd much rather sit here and read a series I love than read a stupid book I hate for English class.
9- Do you read more fiction or non-fiction?
Definitely non-fiction.
10-Are you writing a book, fiction, non-fiction, fanfic? Or have you?
No, I've only ever written crappy fan fiction, and not a whole book's worth of it. I would like to someday maybe attempt an original novel or something, but it's not something I'm working toward right now. I enjoy reading more than writing.
