Well, i made it back in one piece, but it was a close call. i had a little motorcycle accident that earned me a trip to the emergency room on Saturday the 24th. Nothing was broken (thank GOD!). i thought i had dislocated my shoulder, but it turns out it is only "badly bruised." Well, it's a week later and i still can't lift my left arm (and i'm out of painkillers: not good). I also had some massive bruises on my legs, too, but they are starting to clear up.
When i think about it, i could have been easily killed or crippled. The tailgate of Casey's truck caught the inside of my left thigh, and his tail light caught my left shoulder. The bike just missed the truck, but if it hit, i would have been ugly. I was not wearing a helmet.
But on a more positive note, we went on a charter fishing trip into Chaumont Bay, and we caught a bunch of pike. Bruce caught a monster walleye. I caught the biggest of the fish- a 32" pike. My shoulder was pretty sore after reeling that bastard in (my arm was in a sling at the time).
It was fun hanging around with the kids, too. The wea ther was nice on Saturday and Sunday, so we hung out outside and the kids ran around all day and raged. After Saturday, i didn't do much because my arm was in a sling and i became a bit of a zombie once i took my "medicine" (Vicodin). I had to sleep in a reclining chair so i wouldn't roll and hurt my arm in the middle of the night. Now that i am home and have no reclining chair, getting good sleep is most difficult.
Other than that, it was a pretty good time. I forget how cold it is up there. On wednesday morning (May 28th), the day i flew back, it was 31 degrees out. There was frost on the grass. I couldn't believe it.
There is talk about going back up there to visit around the Fourth of July. Sean Reidy is planning on going up there, and i haven't seen him in a couple years now. I did see Angel Spencer (or whatever her name is now), working at Kay-Bee Toys in the mall. It was nice to see her.
This next time, i'll just stick to the four-wheeler.
