So I finally got my muse back on No Fair Fights. I have a road map of seven chapters (Six and a double-sized final, which kinda fits movies these days) and have a solid idea for the story for each one.
But right now, I'm still much more writing flashbacks and avoiding the main story.
And in working through how to connect Bliss Darling, heroine of No Fair Fights, with the rest of the Buffyverse, I awoke my inner Redacted, and put her front and center in my long-forgotten untouched Scatterlings and Orphanages fic. I have solid ideas for an end, and I could just WIP it if the necessary first chapter would just come, but the first chapter is heavily reliant on a Ghanaian OC, and I have to either 1) listen to a lot of Ghanaians conversation to get an ear for what a non-horrible version of it would be, or b) embrace the suck of writing a bad character to get on to situations I'm more comfortable writing.
(Personally, I'm very happy with the second chapter. Very happy.)
Because I haven't done that (I have found a Ghanaian vlogger I like, just haven't spent the time), I'm working on the Xander/Redacted situations that occur later. Well, Xander&Redacted. And working out exactly how much Xander/Dawn I might like, which, in the year after "Chosen", where Dawn is still a year or more away from where and when I would consider X/D non-creepy, so writing that is going to have to be carefully handled.
Plus, I have situations that are very much Xander/Bliss, but I feel that even starting to engage that before I have put out a word of No Fair Fights or How I Got To Memphis, my Africander piece.
So, that's where I'm at.
