I was working on Thurs night-Fri morning, switching out endcaps in the grocery section of Box Store, and the endcap we were working on was full of the different types of goldfish crackers. (Non-merkins, I hope the name is descriptive enough.)
The person I was working with has so far been totally immune from the pop-culture references that make up the vast majority of my capability to converse. But I pick up one bag of crackers, notice that instead of containing fully-grown cheesy cracker fish, it contained cheesy crackers in a much earlier stage of development.
"Babies!"
"Can there be ale?", the pop-culture immune coworker said.
(Of course she said something like "I know this! What is it?" And of course I said "Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "Triangle". The episode with Anya's troll ex-boyfriend." Because I'm such a big dork continuity freak I have all this at the top of my head.)
There are, then, some pieces of pop culture that slip through.
