Close Yr Mind & Feel The Best

Tonight I saw Sonic Youth for the second time in concert. It was incredible.

In summary:

1) They opened with Teen Age Riot
2) Thurston Moore wished Dustin Hoffman a happy birthday
3) I was front row center, happily smashed against the rails
4) The crowd went crazy
5) And they played two encores

It's amazing how many fun things I've been doing by myself. I went to the Joy Division/New Order dance party at the Funhaus and had an AMAZING time. I requested The Perfect Kiss by New Order and Let's Go Crazy by Prince and the DJ played both within half an hour. I danced like crazy and the music was amazing. I didn't even feel that awkward, the Funhaus is a dirty little goth club, it's marvelous.

I went to a really awesome improv show at the Theatre Centre. I saw Iron Cobra, they were hilarious. I had seen Becky and Graham perform in different improv tournaments etc. in Winnipeg and Toronto and I knew it would be a hysterical and it was, so c'est bon.

I bicycled down to Yonge & Dundas square on Tuesday night to watch the starlight screening of ALIEN. FANTASTIC! Wow, it's way more fun to see movies in that setting. When the alien burst out of the guy's stomach everyone in the audience screamed and then applauded. Too bad I missed out on Tremors tonight, but hey - I was seeing SONIC YOUTH, so it was totally fucking worth it.

I went and saw "Opening Night" of Talladega Nights (the 1:40pm showing on opening day) and I laughed louder than anyone at parts that no one else laughed at, so unfortunately drew way too much attention to the fact that I went to a movie ALONE.

My new favourite thing is making fruit smoothies before french class, and then spending hours in the reference library on Yonge sitting in the aisles and reading. I have fallen in love with E.E. Cummings and Ernest Hemingway, respectively. Thursday I'm searching for Winston Churchill biographies.

I guess I should feel like a loser for doing all these things by myself, but I don't, because I'm always doing what I want to be doing and that makes me happy. Like when I watch the music video for Tom Jones & The Cardigans "Burning Down The House" at least 3 times in a row per day... that's what's making me happy.
