Following this.Lucy sat back in her seat, grinning as she looked at the blinking cursor on the computer screen. She took a drink of her coffee and looked casually out the window into the dark street. The faint lights of the Plaza hotel reflected off the damp cement sidewalk and she stared at it for a moment, thinking about the conversation she'd ( Read more... )

It wouldn't have taken him more than 0.5 seconds to run down to the coffee shop he was supposed to meet Lucy at, but the voice in his head that usually sounded a lot like Clark's said something about protecting secrets. Whatever.

So after long five minutes Bart stops just short of the shop, walking up to the door and opening it, a grin spreading on his face as he sees the girl, "Lucy?" He asks, not waiting for confirmation before doing half a bow, "Ready for some fun, senorita?"

Lucy glanced away from her reflection and looked over at Bart. She grinned upon seeing the half-bow. "That would be me. ...My entertainer, I presume?"

Pushing her hair back behind her ear, she smiled and nodded as she took a few mental notes about him. "I am most definitely ready for fun." She moved toward him and tilted her head to the side. "There's a club a few blocks from here. We could try that out first. I am so ready to do something fun. Kansas has got to be one of the most boring places on the planet."

"In flesh." He replies with a grin to her first question, before shaking his head and shrugging "You just say that because you never had a night out in Metropolis with El Bart. I will show you a good time."

He motions for her to step ahead before walking up to her side, "What is such a beautiful girl like yourself doing here alone anyway?"

She began walking and grinned over at him. He was definitely making her smile, which was a good sign, and she couldn't help but feel hopeful that the night would be interesting. "Well, at the moment...I'm hiding from my sister."

Laughing, she looked ahead as she walked and shrugged a shoulder. "I just moved here, and I'm staying with her. She's driving me insane." Smiling impishly, she arched an eyebrow and looked over at him. "She tends to think I get myself into trouble."

"What about you, El Bart?" Glancing down, she moved to dodge a small puddle, then looked back up at him with a grin. "What's your story?"

Bart smirks, watching her as they walk down the street, he slides his hands into his pockets, "There is nothing wrong with some trouble."

He clears his throat, shrugging and raising an eyebrow, forcing himself to look serious, "I'm just in town for business."

Laughing, Lucy twisted her head to the side to look at him doubtfully. "Business...? Really?" She turned her face back to the sidewalk, still smiling widely. "Well, I'm glad you decided to mix some pleasure up in your business trip, Bart."

Her cell phone rang suddenly and she rolled her eyes and turned it off without looking at the screen. "Sorry. My sister thinks I need to be checked up on constantly, and our cousin, Chloe, isn't any better." Looking ahead, she pointed at a club across the street. "I think that's it."

He smirks smugly at her and nods, "I'm all about pleasure,"

Bart watches her handle her cellphone then grins, stopping, "You really must be trouble then. I like it." He winks at her before turning to look at the club, pausing and frowning a little, awkwardly, "You have ID, right?"

"Pleasure is always good," Lucy replied to his previous statement with a smile. "And, trouble is my middle name."

Arching an eyebrow, she grinned and nodded, reaching into her purse and pulling out a pale brown leather wallet. She opened up a zipped compartment and pulled out several driver's licenses, looking through them before selecting one with a decisive smile. "Apparently, I'm Susan Davis of Nebraska, tonight."

She showed him the license and bit her lip, tilting her head to the side. "What about you? You can't be any older than me."

Bart grins big at her, stretching his back a little as he nods, "I like you," he nods down at her wallet, appreciatively before reaching into his pocket and pulling out his ID and showing it to her.

"Wally West, he's my cousin," holds it up to his face and makes the same face as Wally's "pretty close, huh?"

Lucy laughed as she looked back and forth between the picture on the license and Bart's face. "Pretty close...you're a little cuter, though." She grinned and glanced over at the club's front door. "I don't think we'll have any trouble. If we do, though, it's no biggie. My sister's good friends with some big millionaire hotshot guy. I can always do a little name-dropping."

She saw no need to mention the fact that she planned on conning said 'millionaire hotshot guy' the first chance she got.

There is a big, smug grin on his face as he shrugs and slides his ID back into his pocket, "That's what most people say, you should tell him if you ever meet him."

But his face falls into a frown a couple of seconds later, "Wait, wait, wait, you're not friends with Luthor, are you?" He sneers a little at the mention of the name. Bastard still owed him for the last time.

Surprised, Lucy tilted her head to the side. "Friends? Not exactly." She smirked and tossed her hair back as she leaned in a little closer. "The last time I was in town...I took off with his quarter-million dollar car and fifty grand." She couldn't help the pride that tinged her voice and she grinned. "If he wants to think we're friends, that's his mistake."

She paused for a moment and bit her lip, worried she'd said too much and he'd think she was total scum. "Look...if you don't want to go with me now, I get it. I know that's kind of...yeah."

Bart keeps frowning when she starts but as she goes on, that big grin starts spreading over his face again, "Not wanna go with you?" He half laughs, half snorts, "You stole from Luthor? Chica, I'm in love."

He raises one eyebrow and offers his arm to her, still grinning "I'll buy you a drink for it. You are the coolest chick ever."

She smiled, relieved, and laced her arm with his. "I have to admit, Bart, I'm not used to getting that reaction...but I'm glad." Lucy laughed and moved forward, grinning over at him. "And, I'll take that drink, and buy you one in return for surprising me. That doesn't happen very often."

Curiosity piqued her interest and she couldn't help but ask, "So, I already know why I'm not fond of him...why don't you like him?"

As soon as she takes his arm, he straightens his back and puffs out his, "awesome, I like the sound of that."

Bart pretends to check on the traffic before they start to the other side of the street, not something he usually does, but he rather not get the others pissed at anything.

He tries to shrug nonchalantly at her question, "No big deal, Luthor just put his big shiny head into things that weren't any of his business but I took care of it."

"Ahh," she murmured, holding on to him as they moved across the street. "Well, that's not surprising. He likes to stick his nose into my sister and her friends' business, too."

As she stepped up on the curb, she smiled over at him. "But, that's enough about him. I want to have fun tonight, not waste time talking about him." She released his arm, but grabbed ahold of his hand. "Come on. I want to see if you're as good at dancing as you are at surprising me."
