Thoughts about Life (and BSG, of course!)

Everyone who said the type on the update page was too small was right! This is really hard to read. I am so not getting enough sleep lately. I'm constantly writing with all the time I can find anywhere. I don't know why I'm having such good creativity lately, but I'm really happy about it. As I said last night to Orla on AIM, probably it has ( Read more... )

Lot of interesting personal stuff - but since I don't know you it's not quite as relevant. :) (to me anyway)

But the BSG stuff - now that intrigues me because I'm thinking much the same thing. What they've tried to do in effect is turn Kara into the 'original' Starbuck - who drank, smoked and frakked around with whomever he wanted and it was cool. Of course it isn't cool for guys to do that now (especially not if they're MARRIED!) so where did it become cool for women to do it? I know my hubby would DIE (and then kill me from the grave) if I were to sleep around on him, even once, let alone doing it again and again and making sure he knows he doesn't have a choice in the matter.

Of course Sam doesn't make much sense to me either - what man would WANT to be with her if she does that? He wants her back, that much is pretty plain, but why if she's going to cheat on him again? Is he a glutton for pain too, just like Lee? (who could have an entry all his own under 'dysfunctional' in the dictionary).

It's a weird, strange relationship triangle/quadrangle that they've set up and one that I have some real difficulties with. The only part that really rings true is the Kara/Lee can't keep their hands off each other stuff - and not jus because that's what I WANT to see - the actors convey it in such a believable way.

Thanks for the transcript and all the opinions you shared. Definitley and interesting subject to think about and discuss. :)

That's ok *smiles* It is a funny way to get to know someone isn't it? I don't post for three weeks and then I write down lots of things all at once. So, sorry for going on so long. I should be more polite and write smaller chunks every day to keep people informed. I always am glad to hear how the baby is, even if I don't have time to comment. Hope you are both doing well today!

Anyway, yes, BSG.

I agree. I don't care what the orignial Starbuck did thirty years ago. It isn't acceptable behavior for a married person of either sex, if there is an expectation of faithfulness in the relationship. Like I said above, one of my dearest friends did tolerate repeated cheating for over 20 years and I saw what a toll that took on her. There's just no excuse for it.

Yes, Sam would make no sense to me either, if we are really supposed to take it that he's all ready forgiven her for cheating several times. Ron doesn't seem to think he's weak or wrong though. I'd have to listen to exactly what he said again, but he was sort of saying good for Sam, he knows who Kara is and isn't it great that he loves her anyway when she is going to 'cat' around. He sounds very admiring of both of them to me! Which is what drove me to go on for so long, that I just don't understand that attitude.

If he's fine with it though, then why is he clearly so angry and jealous about Lee? Why not just sleep with someone else himself and wait for her to come home? Though I certainly wouldn't call that being married.

Honestly, Ron always sounds to me like he thinks men are just lining up to be one of the ones Starbuck is toying with actually. LOL, so I don't think he was saying there was anything wrong w Sam's decision to tolerate it.

I suppose Sam's better off than Dee though because at least he got more than a couple of annoyed glances to show he wasn't happy with what was going on. It is a very odd story in many ways.

I certainly agree with you though that the actors really sell Kara and Lee. I'm fine with Kara being torn between Sam and Lee, I just think it is looney to say she's got time to juggle anyone else!

You're welcome! Nice to hear what you think.
